I'll make sure to keep interest up enough so we'll get to them, Nobody145. Trust me, I can't wait to get to Lightsabers. And I'm actually semi-legit enthused about this thread.

No, no! Bump the thread all you like!
I was planning on doing so in a day or so to give everyone a week's notice anyway, and the more people who are excited about this the better!
I'm actually most of the way through I, Jedi at the moment (and planning on reading a chunk more shortly!) and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would (and I thought I'd enjoy it!). But I should save my comments for the discussion thread.
Thanks again for investing in this project and helping get it off the ground!

Watto, I don't often find things on these boards that I find genuinely poignant, but...I mean am I the only one? This sentence struck a chord. Geez. Way to start a day...

Having read Talion: Revenant last year, I, Jedi reads very similar to it. This is Michael free of the stiffling confines and lexicon of cockpit confines; his prose of smoother and carefree. The Anderson trilogy backdrop was supportive, his emotional tests of self will on Courkrus well written.

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

This thread sounds great. Every year I seem to collect a couple dozen books I never seem to get around to reading. I, Jedi is one of them. It's been on my shelf for almost as long as it's been out. This sounds like a great opportunity to actually read it.

i re-read I, Jedi about a week before this thread was created. It's the star wars book that i've read most, probably read it about 4/5 times. How nice of you to start with my favourite book
shame you had to pick the month my exams start to start your review club!
if itd been last month i'd have been much more active on the thread

All right, guys! I'm bumping this thread to remind you that we blast off in one week!
It's great to see so many of you showing up in the last few days, especially since it seems I, Jedi is a book a lot of you have recently reread. I hope I see you all on May 1st!
(And vereor_lynas - good luck with your exams! And I hope you pop by the thread even if you can only do so briefly!)

Having first read the book back in '99, I was pleased at how much I enjoyed my second run through it.
This time, however, I found the Jedi Academy Trilogy stuff to be a bit of a drag. Although I loved the parts with Corran and Exar, I found it a bit tiresome to see Corran come in just as some galaxy-shaking event from Kevin J. Anderson's trilogy came to an end. To me this damages the book's ability to be a true standalone story, even if that was never the goal.
That's not to say Michael Stackpole didn't do a good job with this assignment -- he did. I just think the book forged its own identity in the second half, where Stackpole's ability to weave adventure and intrigue were really on display.
