What more is there to know than "The Mandos did it" and "Lots of people died"? I suppose it could be "The Mandos were really, really bad" but... its genocide. They all already know that.

Do they? There are two scenarios that could work:

1) They might not have been aware of the genocide until someone went to go check on why the Cathar system had been so quiet for a while. No one hears from Cathar for a long time, someone is sent to investigate, they find the mass graves or something.

2) They might not have been aware that the Mandos were the ones who did it. In this case, they know that someone massacred the Cathar, but not who.

Quite a few cathar escaped though, so we're led to believe.

Enough that the Republic would be aware of what happened, at any rate. Maybe they figured the cats were exaggerating?

You seem to forget who is the mastemind of all this...the person behind the True Sith who are behind the Mandalorian Wars...Darth Gryph, the Destroyer of Worlds! wink

Now serioulsy. I don´t think Revan needs a great deal of a "push" to go to war against the Mandalorians, but, since you´ve mentioned the Cathar genocide, could be that what he was meaning when he said "the truth is written in blood"? I mean, that he had already discovered that by the time he went to meet the Council?

I'm pretty sure that Canderous said "the Sith came with an offer", which means direct involvement, as simply continuing what started with Exar Kun wouldn't have anything to do with an offer from the Sith.

Canderous doesn't say "when" this happened and Ulric did give an offer to Mandalore the Indomitable.

That's really pushing it. Nothing was going on after Mandalore the Ultimate took over, the attacks didn't start right away. Not to mention that there wasn't really an offer by Ulic. The Mandalorians got under his control as part of the duel Mandalore lost against him.

Being forced to fight in an ongoing war isn't nearly the same as getting an offer to start a war against the Republic.

I'm with Oissan on this. I'd feel it a bit of a cop out if it turned out it was just a reference to Ulic.

Admittedly, I wouldn't actually be massively shocked if it was truly just a bad quote that managed to slip through the net of editting, having been intented as a Great Sith War reference but phrased poorly.

Still, intentional or merely poorly phrased, it is what it is. And a chance to have the Kunites or Muurians or Sadowites still in active service is too good to be missed. I'm still holding out though for the "True Sith" to be some Muurian offshoot of the Sith Empire that once ruled Arkania. If that is not to be though, then Exar Kun's remnants would suffice.

It may come out tomorrow but, as usual, my comic guy slipped it to me today. So...read on for my synopsis of KOTOT 31, Turnabout!

"My Father should be here...."
A painting of Barrison Draay, hero of the Sith War looms above the head of Lucien Draay, newly-appointed member of the Jedi Council. The weight of his father's legacy is heavy on his shoulders. Barrison Draay died fighting in the Sith War, killed by a bomb blast when Lucien was just a child.

"It if wasn't for the Sith, the position on the Jedi council-this office- would have been HIS. And, now, to prevent the return of the Sith, it belongs to me.

Lucien stares into space and is hardly aware of his attendants informing him that he is all moved in. Lucien only stares downward, distraught. "I have worked long for this...." He thinks. "This should feel like victory, like VINDICATION. I already know why it does not"

"My father should be here...not ME!"

Screen-wipe to another area of Coruscant. Vandar and Vrook have arrived in the sort of wretched hive of scum and villainy where many Jedi will be doomed to find themselves for generations to come. From beneath his hood, Vrook proclaims that they should not be there- they came to places like this when they were knights to cleam them up, not to skulk around. Vandar, similarly hooded but floating on a repulor-chair, counters back and states that it would do all the Jedi-high council good to get out more on Coruscant.

Vandar and Vrook are waiting for their "new contact". A man that identified himself as...Captain Malak.

"You've found him"

The voice belonged to Alek, but not the Alek we first met. His bald head is now adorned in familiar striped tattoos. He is accompanied by Shel Jelavan. They apologize for the ruse, but it was necessary to make it to the planet.

Vandar patronizes them for their actions against the Jedi Council. He tries to call him by his surname, but Alek, or Malak as he know goes by, informs him that it was always just Alek. His homeworld, Quelii, does not use surnames, only the names of their home villages. The long name of his home village wound up on his immigration papers and apparently stuck. Thanks to the new arrests of Jedi Knights who want to join the war against the Mandos, Zayne believed that Lucien might try to keep him from reaching the council on his behalf. Malak and Shel inform the two Jedi masters that Zayne wishes to return to Coruscant with information that will rock the entire Jedi order

Meanwhile, in Coruscant airspace, Admiral Karath sports a cane and cybernetic leg. He is joined by Master Xamar aboard his flagship. Karath informs Xamar that no one will go to Coruscant without going through the Republic navy. Xamar and Karath begin to talk about how Karath really does not like Jedi, which Karath responds by saying he has respect for firepower. Karath also notes that Xamar seems to know his way around the ship. Xamar lets him know that his uniform is not just a costume piece, the species of his homeworld are all called to serve in the navy. All in all, it seems like a quiet day in Coruscant orbit....

THEN! All of a sudden some sort of time warp must have opened in space. Captain Rex, R2D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and a clone trooper all arrive with lightsabers blaring!

Oh wait...that was an advertisement for the Clone Wars movie. Sorry, false alarm.

Xamar and Karath start to talk about Zayne. Xamar asks for Karath's opinion of the boy, and Karath describes him as not always making sense-and absolutely sure he's RIGHT. Just like a Jedi. He says, "I don't know if he's a killer, a spy or just crazy, all I do know-is that he'd be crazy to come here...."

On these words, the Last Resort appears right before the blockade around Coruscant. (Nice timing here)

Gryph starts yelling and demanding to know who told the Navy their itinerary. Everyone starts to rush to their stations, but Rohlan stops Jarael and tells her its a fool's errand, suicide and they should escape. Jarael shoots back that Rohlan is the one who wants her to find her potential in the first place and the only way to start her life over is with something to do. So she's gonna do it! (Or something like that....)

A Republic starfighter swoops in and begins a communication. It's no one other than...CARTH ONASI! Apparently, letting Zayne escape lost him his bridge position. Poor guy. He tells Zayne to get out immediately. Unfortunately, the other fights identified the ship and swooped in. With orders to only disable and not to kill, orders which Zayne echoes. Rohalan starts acting like a whiny Mandalorian and tells them they must escape. Zayne asks him "Since when do you care about saving your own skin? The Rohland I know would take any risk to find the truth- like we're doing now!"

The Hammerhead cruisers begin to coordinate and fire on the ship. Gryph grabs a fire extinguisher and starts trying to put out fires in the cockpit. Rohlan keeps whining and protesting they escape...what a scared Mando.

On the ship, Karath begins to celebrate that Zayne did not "bring enough ship" to crack his defense. Xamar informs him that Zayne never wins through brute force, but by misdirection he will find a way (Xamar must have been reading the previous issues detailing Zayne's adventures)

Karath orders Xamar to take a fighter and get into the act. "Don't worry," he says. "We won't accidentally shoot you."

Xamar mutters "Felled by friendly fire...." As he heads out into space.

The Hammerheads are continuing their assault on the Last Resort and Jarael and Zayne decide, simultaneously, that they need a different ship. At this time, they pulled off one of my favorite manuevers from Battlefront 2 and boarded the carrier in the hanger of one of the command ships. Rohlan keeps whining about trying to escape and Jarael tells him to "go hide in a crawlspace like you've done before."

The ship lands hot in the hangar and a scared Duros (Or Nemoidian?) yells for everyone to get out. Jarael and the two Ithorians exit the ship and ask if they've arrived at the Coruscant tourist information center. Karath siezes them and demands they find Zayne and Gryph. But to no avail...they're all missing along with Master Xamar.

Meanwhile, Zayne, Gryph and Slyssk have escaped aboard a familiar cargo freighter that one of the pilots immediately recognizes as Carth's old ship from the Courageous.

Carth tells them to let it go and mutters "That's some force you've got kid...."

Zayne and Gryph manage to find a landing pad. Zayne tells his sniivian friend that he is free to leave him now, he doesn't really need him to deliver the evidence. Gryph replies, "I made my bet back on Taris, Zayne, got to protect my stake. :et's go"

(It may appear that Gryph is showing a softer side, but those of us in the know, know that a SITH LORD would never allow the artifacts of his heritage to leave his grasp.)

Gryph mentions Slyssk's panic attacks and told him to find a hotel. As the two walk with the large case in between them, they hear a noise behind them. Zayne says, "I thought you said Slyssk left the ship?"

Gryph raises his head. "I thought he did. Slyssk, I told you--"

I am not Slyssssssk

Elsewhere on the planet, Malak, Shel, Vrook and Vandar are waiting for Zayne. They discuss how Krynda Draay is the last hero of the Sith war and her exposure as a traitor would destroy the fragile order. Malak berates them for allowing Krynda to train Jedi unsupervised.

Vrooks says it just won't be enough to have a few Sith artifacts to pin the Jedi murders on the Kraays. Vandar agrees and states that someone from her circle would have to come forward.

Suddenly, a voice says that "Someone Miiiight"

We then see xamar with with a lightsaber to the throats of Zayne and Gryph.

He says: "I have brought Zayne Carrck and Marn Hierogryph to justice. The form it takes...depends on what you say to me now."

TUNE IN NEXT MONTH!

Wait, I'm confused. So Malak, Vandar and company are talking then someone, apparently from "Krynda's" inner circle, comes forward with information. Or is that "Someone miiight" from the Zayne/Xamar part of the story. I ask because the three extra "I's" speach pattern doesn't seem to be used by anyone we know. Also, if Krynda=Kreia then this "someone" could be Revan...betraying his master. Traya, anyone? Sorry for the ramblings, it's late. I hope you got what I was trying to say.

Thanks for the summary! happy

(Also that part about the Clone Wars people actually provoked a fear-filled face from me, glad that was a joke.)

Xamar is the one using the speech pattern. He appears in both instances. He is the "someone" who comes forward with the information, or at least he might. Nice thought on Revan though.
Sorry if I didn't make that clear...it was a lot to type.

So Xamar is in two different places at once? Or these two events are at different times independant of each other...seems like a weird way to write a story.

Thanks for the reply.

They happen fairly shortly after one another I think. But yes they are independent of one another. Xamar grabs Zayne and Gryph, and takes them over to Vrook and co.

His true motives will have to wait until next month! I thought Xamar was a very interesting and entertaining character this issue. Even though he is likely to die, I hope to see a bit more of him.
