This is up on Amazon! grin

Skywalker is the new, unexpected hero of the Rebellion. But the galaxy hasn't been saved yet - Luke and Princess Leia are finding there are many more battles to be fought against Darth Vader and the Empire! This latest Star Wars Omnibus reprints many of the early tales of the Rebellion.

First, we have Shadow Stalker, Tales from Mos Eisley, and River of Chaos - all of which are long out of print and have never before been collected! Then, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, a story created by George Lucas and Alan Dean Foster before there were plans for any films past Star Wars: A New Hope. And last is Vader's Quest, in which Vader learns the secret kept from him by Yoda and Obi-Wan: that he has a son!

# Paperback: 336 pages
# Publisher: Dark Horse (October 1, 2008)

An interesting choice of timeframe, since it butts up against Empire. But I'm sure as hell gonna get it. grin

Awesome. grin

I was kinda hoping that Shadow Stalker would be in the Shadows of the Empire collection (along with Shadows of the Empire, SotE: Evolution, and The Jabba Tape) but this makes more sense timeline-wise.

Hmm. Interesting. I actually have Vader's Quest, but none of the others. Not sure if I'll get it or not.

Dagnabit, I just bought River of Chaos, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, and Shadow Stalker as individual comics. tongue happy Ah well...

River of Chaos is long overdue for a reprint...BTW, for timeliners, that story takes place after Empire #22--Leia's upcoming mission to Aguarl 3, from River of Chaos, is delayed in the Empire story.

Do what I did with XWRS: now that it's been announced, dump the old ones on Amazon/half.com. wink

I don't have any of them so I'm looking forward to this one much more than Droids. Much more. Kind of makes me glad I didn't get Vader's Quest a couple of weeks ago.

I'll bet it takes at least another 2 Omnibus' before they get to stuff like Jedi Quest, Qui-Gon And Obi-Wan comics or anything from Republic.

Score!

I still have Shadow Stalker from the original serialized run in Star Wars Galaxy magazine from 1996-97, but I haven't read any of the others. They aren't incredibly hard to find but I couldn't really be bothered to go digging, so it'll be cool to have them nicely packaged and readily available.

Are any of the Star Wars comics really that hard to find? I've started collecting the individual issues I'm missing on eBay and haven't had to go to too much trouble or expense, even with the rarer ones like World of Fire, the 3-D issues, and the Marvel Droids comics. I've even ended up with duplicate issues I'll have unload when I have time.

Well, maybe I'm not very good at searching for comics online, but so far I haven't found copies of the third 3d issue or some of the Star Wars Kids comics. And it took me a long time to find "Death Masque."

The first three listed titles were never reprinted in TPBs in the US, and Splinter of the Mind's Eye is out of print. So... yes. happy

Doesn't Splinter of the Minds eye kind of contradict Vader's Quest completely? I have yet to read either but in Splinter Vader knows about Luke Skywalker and in Vader's Quest he finds out about Luke, his son. So are these just presented this way because of chronological printing? confused

Vader's Quest is set before Splinter, so it's okay that Vader already knows about Luke.

That's true, but the summary indicates that Splinter will appear before Vader's Quest in the book, which is kind of unfortunate.

Yeah, those have been tough. Most of the individual issues published in the U.S. can be found second hand, though.

>The first three listed titles were never reprinted in TPBs in the US, and Splinter of the Mind's Eye is out of print. So... yes.<

I don't know about those specific ones. Maybe it was just a fluke, but I picked 'em all up as individual issues for about $25.

>That's true, but the summary indicates that Splinter will appear before Vader's Quest in the book, which is kind of unfortunate.<

I don't think they're always going for exact chronological placements with these collections. Vader's Quest and Shadow Stalker take place during the Classic Star Wars and Marvel series, while River of Chaos occurs during Empire's run. All three of those series will probably recieve their own omnibuses; these are just random rebellion-era stories.

Why no "Rebel Thief", "X-Wing Marks the Spot" or "Imperial Spy"?
Or "The Mixed-up Droid"
Star Wars 3-D?
The uncollected Marvel/newspaper strips?

They are all from this era. Ok, I understand the non-DH ones, but why omit the other short-stories? Will they ever get omnibused now?
