What Comes Next? A Lit board Game
|
Just been chewing on ideas to lighten the mood around here and I came upon the idea for a game.
What Comes Next? A Lit Board Game
Here is How we play:
The Game Master shall quote from the last line of a paragraph in a star wars book.
Any Star Wars book. Including fiction, non-fiction and junior readers...if it's written in paragraph form, it's a possibility. sorry comics!
(this can range is difficultly based on what is happening in the sentence, what characters are named, locations named, or even NONE of the above for the extra challenging rounds)
Contestants must then not only name the book & author...but must confirm this line and give us the first line of the NEXT paragraph. (even if it means the beginning of a new chapter or section.)
Now to make it not a "winner takes all" speed race, points for contestants in the early rounds will be based on time from the questions original post to the PM time of their answer, scoring as follows:
Within 10 minutes: 25pts
Within 30 minutes: 15pts
Within an hour: 5 pts
Within 12 hours: 1pt
Correct Answers must be sent via PM to the Game Master in the following form:
_______________
PM Subject line: "WCN Round # Answer"
Body:
Round #
Question "line" repeated in it's entirety.
"Complete" Book Title (omitting "Star Wars" is fine...but putting SBS or TUF will not be accepted, nor will "Rule of Two" or "Dark Lord", please complete the title) *note that "Darth Bane: Path of Destruction" is a suitable answer (you can omit "a novel of the Old Republic")
Authors name as it appears on the book.
First Line of the next paragraph (in it's entirety).
_______________
Question lines will ALWAYS be the last complete sentence of a paragraph. Answers must ALWAYS be the first complete sentence of the next paragraph.
Spelling errors may factor if it calls the answer into question. Judges will make the determination in private...point deductions or disqualification of an answer are possible penalties. Spellcheck.
Depending on how many people want to play will determine the number of rounds to decide a champion. the championship round (at least) will be a 5 round series...first person to answer first in 3 rounds will be champion. Championship rounds will be answered publicly (so be sure, lest you give your opponent a clue in your mistake).
A bracket style tourney will be used if we have enough players in later rounds.
Correct answers will be determined by the Game Master...if there is a question on an answer or a player wishes to appeal, a team of 3 judges will make the determination by private vote.
Chatter and discussion are encouraged in the game thread...but please, do not leak answers or drop hints in the thread.
If this sounds like something you're game for, sign up below.
Also, anyone who signs up should give a rough idea of the best possible times for the question to be posted for them(base it on the board's default Pacific time). I'd hope to make the playing field as level as possible by posting questions when the "majority" of you can get access to materials to answer. For fairness, we may rotate the time for posting of rounds for players in other hemispheres.
Please, if there any questions, please ask them now, before we begin.
Good Luck!

Did you PM a mod about this? Cuz we've been cooking up a game exactly like this for the EUC except you only had to name the author and it is surprisingly harder than we thought.

HAHA
"It's a tiny, tiny world..."
It is extremely difficult...which is why I've already started pulling books to find lines that are "relatively" easy.
It won't be a "close your eyes, open the book, jab a finger" random selection.
At least until maybe the final rounds.

In any forum games have to be mod approved. I've not seen a game in Lit except for the million colors one and that was an exception as a traveling game. We've been told before to have them in the EUC instead and invite the Lit people there.

Doh!
Nope...didn't know that.
I sent off a PM.
We'll let's see what happens.
Lit could use a game.
