Palpatine death didn't destroy the Empire, but it pretty much doomed it to defeat. I think this is worth quite a bit of karma points.

He soaked his soul in a lot of blood and pain and bleach isn't gonna do much for those stains. And most of the ones he must ask for forgiveness were killed... by his own hand.
NelanisGhost posted:The Vong were the worst. They were just rotten people and they got off way to easy, IMO. They basically got rewarded with a gorgeous planet of their own after they wantonly destroyed hundreds and murdered hundreds of trillions. I still think they should have been completely eradicated.

Charlemagne19 posted: It's the difference between Forgiveness, Redemption, and Atonement. No, Vader can never atone for his sins because... A. He killed a lot of people who he can't bring back. B. He's dead. Vader can be forgiven however. He can also achieve redemption by turning away from the Dark Side and PROVING he had. (Giving his life up to destroy his former master) It's weird but I think that summarizes my feeling on the differences.
Charlemagne19 posted:It's not weird, but for me at least, he strikes out on two: atonement, which we both agree on, and forgiveness. Only one who would might be Luke. I know I never would. I'm not saying he should spend eternity in hell, just some time in purgatory. The Force forgives Vader. Well, Luke forgives Vader. Obi Wan forgives Vader. Han forgives Vader for Leia's sake. And Leia forgives him once Han forgives Vader. Really, its an individual thing.

Charlemagne19 posted:RK_Striker_JK_5 posted: Whoa, when did Han forgive Vader? Truce at Bakura and Tatooine Ghost pretty much show that Han doesn't really care much about Vader's torturing him. Bizarre as that may sound, I think he considered Vader more an embodiment of the Empire as opposed to being a figure to hate as a man. Han has been so knocked over by life, it takes something special to develop a personal hatred.
