I’d like to note how the Jensaarai wear cortosis-weave armor. I thought cortosis is supposed to be rare, but it seems like anytime we need somebody to serve as a legitimate threat to a Jedi, they know about and utilize the stuff. plain

I think that this or (one of the Hand of Thrawn books) was the first appearance of Cortosis. It's later stuff (like KotOR) that makes it a lot more common.

come to think of it, you're probably right. so I blame KotOR and JK:JO. Shame on you! tongue

and bec, "Jensaarai Exchange Student?" I love it.

That being said, it really was my pleasure getting in depth with my review. Corran is one of my favorite characters and MAS is one of my favorite SW authors. The whole thing really was a labor of love. happy

Kelbis Nu, the Rodian Jedi in Rebirth, was later retconned as being the Rodian Jensaarai in I, Jedi. Orange, I think.

Corran tries to rectify the defensive stance of the Jedi, with the fact that they’re storming a base. Luke says that as long as they give fair warning, their obligation is met. Especially since they are actively defending the galaxy from future actions by the Invids.

Interesting point: Stackpole and Luke have an easy, sensible solution to the question here. In Dark Tide, Stackpole writes Luke as struggling deeply with that question and drawing a far more conservative line. Stackpole writes Luke as probably the most nonsensically worried about any aggressive action at all whatsoever in all the NJO, so it's a bit odd that he goes from this portrayal to that one.

you're right, I had forgotten about that. maybe it was a plot point not decided by the whole NJO group of authors and not just MAS since Luke's indecisiveness is sort of a series staple. It was sort of there to show troubles and create drama within the Jedi order, but also explains why the Jedi just nip the problem in the bud within a handful of novels. they needed a 19 book series, and the only way to get that is to largely neutralize Luke the Boy Wonder.

also, I don't think I knew that about Kelbis Nu. that's pretty cool.
