From what I do know there is a host of materials, pencils ranging from H to B, inks, boards, paper. The real problem is what one artist uses for something won't be what another does so it's a question you need the artist concerned to answer.

I'm a spoiler rat...spoil me rotten.
I'm happily surprised my continued success of Legacy to surprise me issue after issue...even though I pretty much know what I'm stepping into every time.
Actually issue 23 is the first one in a long time I didn't know much about before picking up. Great one!
But yeah...spoil me.

On december 31, 2005, Tokyopop in Japan released two Manga-style books with complete new short stories (some funny ones, and some good ones)... On October 26, 2006, Tokyopop UK re-released them in English as Star Wars Manga I: Black (with a black cover) and Star Wars Manga II: Silver (with a silver cover)...

True. Any comic book artists out there?

I'm actually transforming that into some kind of spoiler crowd, for myself, which works nicely.

ZanderSolo posted: I read alot of manga if anyone needs help on how to read that(pretty much exactly like a comic, but right side to left.)
Has there been any SW Manga that anyone knows of?
At least episodes 1, 4, 5 and 6 have had manga versions released (source: amazon.co.uk) I haven't read them though and can't vouch for quality. Someone else here can though I'm sure.
I'm loving all the arcs at the moment, got all TPB's currently available in the UK, but that's it, TPB's. One question that I could get answered simply but have never asked is how many issues are there typically in a TPB, and why do they take so darn long to be released? Shards for instance, the wait seemed especially long. Is there a reason they're not released say... 3 months after the last comic in the collection? Is it just to give stores a chance to sell through what stock they have? As far as I'm aware, there are three buyers, those who'll pick up issue by issue, those who'll by TPB by TPB, and those who'll by both (one to read, one to collect), so if that's the reason, I'm not sure I agree.
Anyhow, I'm just looking forward to more TPB's.

I read Marvel.
I do not read Dark Horse, really.
This is personal preference, BTW, not anything against either those who create or read DH; it's just not my thing (other than Tales, Union and the DEs!).

re: TPBS
It could be worse: DC and Marvel have gotten into the habit of releasing HC trades a few months after the story then the TPB a further few months on!
The average span for a TPB is around 6 issues, as to the release schedule - can't help you much there, although I'd agree it is to encourage people to buy the singles. This is an area where John's expertise is needed as I'm not sure how TPB sales factor into a title's success rating, I think monthly sales remain the primary indicator.

I grew up on Marvel Star Wars, so of course I am of the opinion that we need 'em!
On release dates for Dark Horse: Use their site as a guide, but it can be a minimum one week off. Sometimes more. I'm sure that someone from DH can explain why this is so, so I'm not going to go around guessing. It drives us nuts, but I'm positive that it's not intended to do so.
The one site that is the 'holy grail' of release dates is http://www.diamondcomics.com. Diamond Comics is the distributor to the large majority of LCS.
Click on 'New Releases'. They update New Releases and Upcoming Releases every Monday. It doesn't allow you to plan weeks in advance since the lists are generated for the Wednesday shipment, but you can look to see when it's time to show up at your LCS barring weather and holiday shipping issues.
Those poor souls who have to wait for their chain book stores to get the issues are dependent not on Diamond Comics, but on the chain's distribution schedule. It goes like this:
Dark Horse -> Diamond Comics -> Chain Warehouse -> local stores
There's an additional step in there. That's why you can get things at the LCS about a week before the chain stores.
LCS = Local Comics Shop

Nice work RG.
I'd add that a couple of sites that are often used:
www.midtowncomics.com
forums.millarworld.tv
There's a poster at Millarworld who does a shipping update, it sometimes covers DHC, sometimes not, but an info source is an info source.
EDIT: Right I'm off, as it's late over here it's Monday...oh joy...For anybody who posts Qs and expects fast answers do be aware I'm in the UK and can't post at work, hopefully one of the others will take pity on you and answer your Q!

Jedi Ben posted: I don't know the availability of it but DHC did a series of adaptations in the late 90s, think it was when the SEs came out. 4 issues for ANH, ESB, ROTJ plus a 2-issue TPM. Don't think AOTC or ROTS ever got the treatment.
DHC seems to be keeping them in print, as far as I can tell. No AOTC or ROTS adaptation that I'm aware of, though.

The real money on a title is made with the TPB. The monthly's main purpose is to create the product and absorb the cost of so doing. As a result, the profit margin is higher for the tpb since the product has already been created and is simply re-packaged. Also, a monthly will go off sale within just a few weeks whereas the tpb remains out there so long as demand for it is there, thus creating additional revenue.
When it is released depends on many different factors and that includes how much other product is in the pipeline and when it is scheduled for release. Too much product and it inevitably results in lower sales overall. Sounds counter intuitive, I know, but that's the experience.

Hence why I bought several copies of Legacy #21-23 to offset the cost and increase revenue as a thanks to you and Dark Horse for Stazi stories.
While I buy the monthly issues, TPB's are nice if you want to keep the monthly issues in prime condition. That way people who collect an entire series can keep the originals in mint condition while still being able to enjoy the stories in the TPB's. TPB's are also a great way to get someone into comics. They typically have 5 or more issues in one, so it provides the reader a good sized story in one package.
I got a co-worker of mine into Legacy by lending him some TPB's. I then did the same with KOTOR as well.
