	What we know: The Rebellion mounted an preemptive attack on the Death Star at Despraye with an old Trade Federation Ship and 1000 X-Wings. Nearly all they got at that time. (Death Star Novel) Leia and the Tantive IV move out to get the Death Star plans for a better attack the next time. The Alliances recruits pilots and is in need of astrodroids, ships and pilots because of the Battle of Despraye losses. The Rebellion moved Headquarters to Yavin IV only recently, less than 1 year before ANH (Yavin Vendetta comic, Shira Brie tales in Han Solo books). The major capital ship fleet is not there and the starfighter ressources are spread too thin. Ferus Olin watched over Leia and Alderaan, keeping contact with Bail Organa (LOTJ 10) Now... The desperate missions of the Rebel Alliance fail... Their Despraye taskforce is destroyed. The Tantive IV captured with Leia. The Empire learns of the rebels HQ coordinates. The Rebellion seems to be doomed! Yet what did Bail want to acomplish with the help of Ben Kenobi? Did Ferus warn Bail because of a Force vision of a coming tragedy to call Obi Wan? Now to the core: What if Leia could have evaded Vader, recovered Ben from Tatooine (maybe Luke, too), and returned to Alderaan with the plans. How would Bail have used these resources? Vader and the Empire would turn to Alderaan because the Princess & Senator of Alderaan fled them. The Death Star would maybe destroy it still, but Bail and others would start to evacuate it. How'd they confront the Death Star? With their full fleet? The Empire would not have gotten the coordinates of their HQ. What are your thoughts on Bail Organa's original plans? 	I think it was simply "the" moment...which Bail and Obi-wan always knew would come. Bail obviously had already put Leia in play, and Obi-wan was likely to do the same with Luke. If Leia avoids the Imps, she contacts Obi-wan, who then contacts Luke...has a shouting match with Owen...and both Luke and Obi-wan leave together on Tantive IV...probably either a) only briefly stopping at Alderaan to collect Bail or information or b) being intercepted by the rebels to avoid being trapped on Alderaan. Luke and Leia find out about each other MUCH sooner and much more clearly...depending on the sucess of a well planned and coordinated strike on the DS, the war may have shifted much sooner...and perhaps Obi-wan drags the green troll off Dagobah to help train the twins as the liberation kicks into full swing. Now as to what "precisely" Bail had in mind for Obi-wan...who knows...but I'd wager pretty good it was simply the calling up of ALL resources at that point...the DS represented a threat that "playing for time" could no longer afford. -----signature----- So Devaronian females are suppose to have thick fur, eh? Has anyone seen one outside an essential guide? ... When even the creative teams refuse to make fuzzy Devaronians...it should be a clue, folks. Thus endeth the lesson.
