I finished it yesterday. I thought it was a good, fun story and I liked the characters. I-Five remains one of the best EU characters and I always thought that Coruscant made for fascinating stories.
Though I thought it fizzled at the end. It was really just set-up for future stories. Vader's after him because he gave him something when they were both padawans? What else are we going to find out...that Vader and Jax have matching Best Friends 4 Life tatoos? Weird. Not to mention Jax's near-improbable escape from Vader at the end.
Liked the reference to I-Five having met Threepio and Artoo. Now that's a story I'd like to see and I don't believe the droids ever left the service of Organa between the trilogies. Looking forward to the Captain Typho storyline in book two but I stand by what I said earlier. Typho having been in love with Padme is not needed. The fact that he's trying to redeem himself by discovering what happened to the woman he was sworn to protect is story enough. No reason to go with a cliche and silly love storyline.

It's a cute idea in the abstract, but the problem is that the book implies Den and I-5 had stayed on Coruscant since their arrival ( which was conveniently timed just prior to Order 66 ) up until the events in the book. Then we have the reference to a trip on a blockade runner with a protocol-astromech team. It's seemingly intended to be part of Den and I-5's roundabout journey to Coruscant... prior to Order 66. So if this really was R2 and 3P0, the book places them already on the blockade runner and fretting about Captain Antilles... prior to Order 66.
Which is, of course, a mistake.
Unless it's a different protocol-astromech pair completely. ( And in that case, what's the point of the reference? )
However, this can be made to work by assuming that Den and I-5 made at least one trip off-planet after the events of ROTS ( even though the book seems to imply otherwise ), and thus the encounter on the Tantive IV was during the final trip back.

Well he can hardly get his gift to Padme back since it was burried with her. Maybe he's looking up everyone he gave a gift too cause he wants to destroy reminders of Anakin Skywalker.
Or perhaps He and Jax were more than friends. (someone had to suggest it)
After all we know that Lucas said Jedi have sex just don't get too attached.

Is this already out? It sounds pretty good from what I heard of it,and standalones are generally better.

Not a standalone, hence the I.

I don't remember where it was, but in one spot Reaves calls Vastor a Balawai. That bothered me a lot.

I only recall that he used Korunnai improperly as a singular.

Is anyone else taking REALLY long to read this? I find myself only reading a chapter per day. I like the writing but the plot is taking so long to get moving.

It's true. I liked the book quite a bit but didn't burn through it. It took a few days to read despite being 350 pages. The last hundred pages or so were pretty fast. I'm hoping that Street of Shadows is a little tighter now that everyone has found each other. This novel had to establish quite a bit and that can take up pages. Not that it wasn't fun reading but it didn't have the ticking clock that was Darth Maul in Shadow Hunter.

It also didn't have the Sith POV. That was unfortunate.

I had the opposite problem, I whipped through it in a day and then I was left wanting more. I haven't read a book in that time in a while.
And did anyone else find Kaird's story more interesting than Jax's or Den's? I think that may have been why I read so fast near the end: I was flying through the later two's chapters to get back to Kaird.

Found it. Yeah, it's really looking like Reaves didn't actually read Shatterpoint, but rather a crude synopsis of the book's events in some other source.
Doesn't bode well...
On the other hand, this is the third such error that had to be pointed out to me by other posters, since I didn't notice it my first time through the book.

I usually blaze through SW books in a few days. This one is just sort of boring so far.
