I think it was the mention of when Den met a protocol droid and an astomech droid aboard a blockade runner during his and I-5's adventures prior to Jedi Twilight.

Yeah, that was it. A great moment.
That actually describes my view of the book quite well. A lot of great moments but the whole of the book is not as good. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I can't say I agree with all of the praise heaped onto it. It's certainly better than the last two novel releases, though (I've yet to read Rule of Two).

I think it could have been R2D2 and C3P0(Just read that part last night). It does kinda hint at it "A Blockade Runner gave us passage to the outer core". Could this not be Bail Organa's Ship with the droids aboard serving him? Might be, but just as easliy might not be, but the hint is there.
I thought of this as well but Nick Rostu does say that the cockpit was small with seating for pilot and co-pilot, where as the Falcon has those additional posts/chairs virtually behind/ to the side like of the pilot and co-pilot seats. thus I kinda put it out of my mind.
All this said I think Reaves definitely wanted to hint that the appearances in question could be the Droids and the Falcon, without giving proof. He is simply allowing the readers decide.

My recollection of the details of the Far Ranger are hazy, but in my ill-informed opinion, I have a feeling that it could be more likely it's the Outrider than the Falcon.

I thought it was said that they ran into them on the Tantive IV, in other words in Alderaanian service. I'll have to reread that part.
Well, it said a blockade runner. And a Corellian Corvette serving as a House of Alderaan personal transport for the Senator/Viceroy has little reason to be described as a blockade runner, or to be taking on random passengers to ferry about. In short, it was probably intended as a reference, but it was a poorly-thought-out one.
And as for the Far Ranger, it starts out with the human-and-big-alien partners running it, and Reaves scrupulously avoids really describing it, so much so that I found it unusual. The only real reference is that it put down on a docking pad designed to sit a certain amount of YT-class freighters -- which is a quiet implication that our little transport is a YT-class itself. There's also the fact that its crew was based out of Coruscant previously, and that's where we have a confirmed sighting of the Falcon in ROTS. It's little more than idle speculation, but I found the possibilities interesting.

Of course, we don't know much about what the Falcon was doing from 19 to 5 BBY.
As for the ship I-5 went on, I assumed it was the Tantive IV as well. We don't really know much about the background for the in-universe term "blockade runner." And, we saw Tantive IV fight during the war, blasting its way out of Metalorn. That incident also is precedent for Organa doing things entirely unrelated to his job as a Senator.

I really enjoyed this book. It felt very much like a mash up between The League of Extrodinary Gentlemen and a Guy Ritchie movie.
When I say League of Extraordinary Gentlemen I mean Alan Moore's masterpiece not the horrible movie. The two resemble each other in that they draw many characters from previous sources and continue to build upon those characters while staying true to that character's roots.
I liken it to a Guy Ritchie movie in that at the beginning you are presented with what appears to be many unrelated stories. But as the novel progresses all the stories cumulate into a "perfect storm" so to speak; where they all get thrown together in a very short timespan.
While I didn't the the story itself was anything ground breaking I really enjoyed Reaves' prose. I felt it flowed and read very will and was chalk full of imagery and let the reader "see" as opposed to merely dictating to the reader (which as much as I like The Darth Bane books I feel is Drew's biggest weakness). This sort of imagery IMHO has been sorely missing from SW for quite a while.
Furthermore I feel Reaves showed a great respect for the EU. He referenced many obsecure bits of the EU. There were multiple YJK references. SOTE allusion. Even TTT inklings.
So while the story was a bit predictable I found the way it was presented to be very enjoyable.

I knew Captain Typho had the hots for Padme That two page preveiw gives him more character than all the previous sources did combined.  Isn't he related to Panaka as well? I'd be pleased to see an appearance by Moff Panaka in one of these books.

What started to really bother me next was the use of vocabulary in the novel. I mean I've got an older Websters Dictionary, but words like Antaenen and Vermicular are not even in its pages. Manumitted was, as was Mellifluous, but not Susurrus. How about Gallimautires(If I spelled that right, can’t read my own writing ) or Crepuscular? Heterodoxy anyone?

Lets toss a few more out there: Memetic(not in my dictionary), Esoterica(not in my dictionary), Cuneiform, Substratum, Modalities, Blastocyst, Abrogation, Mopak?
I have no doubt that educated folk, or even people with a keen interest in vocabulary will know some or all these words, good for you, I do not.
I'm an avid reader of stories the like of Star Wars and Dragonlance. I've read a lot of Stephen King, C.S. Friedman and other mass market writers. Yet in my years of reading I've never seen a book so littered with difficult vocabulary. This is not the usual vocabulary used in Star Wars novels, thus my complaint. I'm sure some others feel the same way, though its true not everyone is quick to admit when they don't understand something.
