Anyone gotten used to Havac's new icon yet?
Why did you change it?
Jedimarine posted: Who do you most identify with his or her icon?
Charles! Still swinging his lightsaber of truth.
But basically, everyone... Except when I've seen their pic.

I was in a Han mood. And I liked the icon, and no one else I'd seen around had it.

By now, I go as MsLanna about everywhere. I chose that name waaaay back when Playing TIE Fighter and ist stuck. By now, it kinda congealed, I guess.
I am pretty easy to find wherever. So far nobody assaulted me at myspace or called via skype though.
I am probably just unpopular.

Can't believe I missed this thread for so long. It's a fun topic.
I chose this "damn New Republic icon" as Sinrebirth puts it because I did not want a chummy stereotypical star wars icon like a Leia or Solo face. This was sort of neutral; I liked it for no personal reasons.
And distinctive. Just about no one else has this icon, though a couple infrequent Litter did for a brief time. I am instantly identifiable with it, it seems.
I've been trying to get RogueWampRat to change his for years. I mean, just look at it.
I am known as Excellence here and over at Amazon. I remember it irritated the 2002 Litters when I came. You could have been calling me Highness or Legend or Exemplar, so phew your relief. I have no other sock or glove, but I can recognise yours by voice which can be interesting. Authors often write how they talk, so I've infrareded a few shadow posters here. I can tell your gender by how you talk, except for Child of Winds, who I think I've been mistakenly thinking of as male for a startling number of solar cycles. I don't have time to presence myself elsewhere. And I've found people are too thick headed to be told LOTR is endless scenic description without entire forums Voltroning against you. Tell a poet lover there's no such thing as good or bad poetry, and she'll vomit with rage.
Oooh! Can we also broaden the thread for why we chose our names, not just icons too? I want to know what significance your alephnumeric arrangements mean to you.

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

I definitely associate icons with the person. If a person has a female icon, I will assume they are female. Once and awhile I do picture that icon as their face, if I don't know anything else about them
If I am looking for myself or someone else's posts on a page, I will look at nothing but the icons as I scroll down to find it. And if someone switches an icon I come to associate with them, it throws me off a lot. Icons also help me remember a person-- someone who changes their icon all the time will not stick in my mind as well. An icon can tell a lot about a person.
For my first month or so on the JC I switched icons all the time, but finally I found this one and haven't changed it since

My icon has always featured my darlings Luke and Mara I have sometimes picked an icon of a fave user/author who also has the L&M icon. E.g., I shared icons for a while with the incomparable WyoJedi , the amazing Michele, and my luscious e-twin Irish Jedi Jade, whose icon is totally ... unique now LOL I also associate icons with users, like the marvelous Jagateeers (whose siggies also rock LOL)

TF.N is the only board I frequently post at. I don't pay much attention to icons since so many people change them often. As for my own icon, it fits well with my screen name I chose so I don't think I've ever changed it or ever will.

DancinBrud is the handle I use everywhere -- Something Awful, Xbox Live, whatever.
As for my icon, I certainly don't post often enough for anyone to recognize me by it, but I suppose I wanted a comic-booky image, since I mostly am interested in the discussing TPBs... and I just thought Down's Syndrome Han Solo was funny.

I recognize you by your icon DB. Every time a trade come out you and I are usually the first to make comments. Come to think of it I haven't seen your review of The Claws of the Dragon trade yet. And "down syndrome" Han?? I thought he was just in a good mood.

Yeah, the icons can really be a quick way to ID posters. When they change it takes me some getting used to, but I tend to pick up on it pretty fast. And repeat icons have made me do a double take in the past, but they're pretty rare.
That's the nice thing about having that sizable number of icons to pick from, few repeats. When I first got here, I figured I might change every so often. Wedge seemed like a good place to start and I liked the aged but still familiar shot of him from Enemy Lines. Thanks to the plethora of icons, I've rarely seen it pop up with other posters (though it does from time to time) so I opted to stick with it.

Zuckkuss was my icon for a long time because he's one of my favorite characters; I went with Short Round for a while for no particular reason. This thread prompted me to change icons. I found this one that looks like the tri-force (I created my username when The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was released and I locked myself in my room playing it.)
I sometimes want to change usernames but don't want to sacrifice my 'Mar 03' status. I actually stumbled across theforce.net when spoilers for The Phantom Menace were being leaked. I lurked on these boards for years before finally creating an account and only rarely posted for years after that. I have very few posts for someone who has been around so long.

I guess it's not surprising that somebody else who discusses the trades could recognize my icon because I definitely recognize yours too. I'm picking up Claws of the Dragon this week; my budget only allows for one TPB purchase a week and Legacy volume 3 had the misfortune of being released the same day as the only comic I enjoy more than it, Y: The Last Man.

I gotta say, cause I'm always checking out the official icon thread for updates. I really wish there would be a massive EU icon upload like last August. I'm dying for Krayt unmasked or Muur or Zayne or Gryph or Stazi or Calixte or Nat Skywalker, or Darth Maladi or Darth Wyyrlok and on and on...
It's the only excuse I can see for rampant icon hopping at this point. For all of the uploads I've seen in recent months, I only really see Cade's butt and maybe one or two others on the Lit page...just sayin'.

Icons of Sith can have negative connotations in certain contexts. Ahem, RP.
I haven't found an icon that fits me perfectly...yet. I constantly change mine because there's so many different ones. I imagine the Yuuzhan Vong ones are used and abused because there's not too many of those. How come there isn't a Dulok icon?

Why certainly. Mine is pretty easy, I'm a Star Wars fan first but also really enjoy Transformers. When I first started with online boards I started on a Transformers collecting site. So I simply took the name of a character I liked, Rodimus and flipped the "d" to a "b" to reflect my own name with an "imus" on the end. Then as I signed up on other boards and found my way here I just stuck with the same name.
