My meaning is that new characters are needed, ones distinct from, and with no relation to, the last batch. Star Wars has a vast galaxy, yet the tales all revolve around a mere handful of events, locales, and characters. There is room for creativity. Whole worlds, whole states are available to write about. Wonderful it would be if writers wrote of them, and stopped trying to create galaxy-shaking events. There have been so many universal catastrophes that it becomes impossible to take them seriously anymore. Coruscant's "Micro-crisis of the Month" I call them.

Let Luke, Han and Leia slowly fade out now, and give more focus to Ben, Jaina and the young(er) jedi knights.
Introduce some new Jedi Ben's age too. Let's see Tahiri redeem herself fully and join the main cast, and reintroduce Zekk in a more grizzled, independent form.
No big conflicts, no wars, just normal Jedi stuff. Policing the galaxy, solving mysteries, having adventures.
One-shots instead of epic 9-book series, more like episodes of a TV-show than full blown movies.
More focus on character, less focus on conflict.

I'll miss empathizing with their triumphs and sadnesses (at the same time lonely and shared), when they're off the telly.

Agree completely...I don't know about the rest of you...but I mainly read these books for the characters, I could care less for the plot. I'm re-reading DNT and I'm loving the characters, Han's great, Luke's awesome, Leia's becoming a Jedi. Who cares about the dumb bugs, I just like the characters.

Anyway, I noticed this:
NJO destroyed a lot of things that we love about the big three and their friends. Make them look like idiots who need their diapers changed. In the mean time we see a lot of young jedis with great potential.
Fans cry foul.
LOTF then destroyed a lot of things we love about the young jedis, while emphasizing the awesomeness of the big three and their cast. In it, idiotic young jedi messes up everything and almost destroy the GFFA until Luke, Leia, and Han pwned the younger generation's derriere.
Fans cry foul.

How about just don't make anyone be idiots? How about showing the generations working together instead of head-butting all the time?
Generation and family angst is fine but it doesn't need to be an overarching theme all the time. If I want a soap opera I'll watch Days of Our Lives.
