I am reading bloodlines and Boba Fett states that Slave I is armed with Turbolasers. On page 119 the 4th paragraph it says "If anything went wrong, he had the firepower of a small warship to get out of trouble-turbolasers, ion cannon, torpedoes, and concussion missiles." I looked on wookiepedia but no mention of turblasers. Is this true or just an error?

Maybe they are scaled-down versions. May be the same design, only smaller.

According to Wook it has "laser cannons":
A laser cannon was the standard weapon for use by most starships and other vehicles. It existed in a myriad of forms, from the huge versions used by starships, through medium-sized turret-mounted variants, to the much smaller personal cannons sometimes carried by infantry.
So it's treating them as the same thing.

Sorry but "The Wook" is not official & the books are. If an argument came up of--
Well the authors aren't "official", then the easiest answer would be that the Wook is always trumped by an actual book...
So If Karen Traviss says they have turbolasers then They do. right? She didn't say they we're "recently installed.."
---Guess the only reason i even posted this is because i wanted to voice my opinion on the wook NOT being canon. So Traviss didn't make a mistake because the Wook isn't on same page etc etc etc..
---IMO- The WOOK is the best & worst thing to ever happen to us Star Wars fans...Imagine if we had Wookiepedia,This forum & main page for news & the internet in general..Man it woulda been awesome in the early 90's..When we we're really dray & hardup for anything SW..

The Wook is an excellent source for stuff, as long as you can check the sources and back it up. Its a great starting point for research.
On the Turbolaser/Slave 1 topic. First I kinda looked at the Wild Karrde from the Heir to the Empire WEG source book. At 125 meters its much bigger than Slave 1, but is armed with Turbolasers. Strike One for me  . Next the Skipray Blastboat, strike two.
Last I think I hit a homerun,  , with the A-9 Vigilance from the Dark Empire source book. At 7.4 meters it carried Two Heavy Turbolaser Cannons, and is smaller than Slave 1. Based on that Slave 1 could easily have Turbo Lasers.

Yeah, but wouldn't two turbolaser cannons take up a lot of space with their powers sources and cooling systems? There wouldn't be much room left after that in such a small ship.

AT-ATs had turbolasers in Dark Empire II. I'd say you can make em small enough to fit on something the size of slave I.

Slave I was being constantly modified. From the prequels to the original trilogy, the weaponry and other components changed significantly. At the beginning of the Vong War, the only original component was the seat. And I think he changed that by the time of LotF.

The Falcon is also described in some of the later works as having quad turbolaser cannons in place of the regular quad guns. Maybe turbolaser tech has improved to the point of making them better and smaller and putting them on smaller ships.

According to the 2007 Starships of the Galaxy:
"Cannon Enhancements
Enhanced Power cyclers, high-volume gas feeds, and larger energization crystals (coupled with enhanced or redundant cooling packs and compressors) create multi-stage laser weapons that have significantly more stopping power.
Because these modifications create a multistage laser, such weapons are sometimes refered to as turbolasers, but they are substantially weaker than the larger weapons on capital ships."
Basically, not everything called a Turbolaser is necessarily a capital ship weapon, even if such weapons aren't actually more powerful than Quad-lasers.

i'm going to guess that the main difference between turbo laser cannons and laser cannons is how automatic they are. turbolasers are fully automatic, lasers are not?
