I know it's some time after LOTF, but when exactly? or have they not said?

Yup. So most likely 43-44 ABY, 42 ABY perhaps also a remote possibility considering that the people behind these novels seem to be somewhat unsure about the exact chronology of LotF themselves.

So the whole of LOTF only takes a year? So if it started 40aby MF would be like 44 right?

If Invincible ended in 41 ABY and MF takes place 3 years after it, then yes. But I would guess 43 ABY would be more likely. I have a vague memory of a mention from somewhere that Allana would be six to seven years old in MF.

No, several years. The Powers That Be wanted to take the characters far enough into the future that readers wouldn't be bogged down by silly things like mourning lost children.

Allana was born in 36 ABY, so she was about 4 years old in LotF. Perhaps little less than four in the beginning, 4 1/2 or something similar in the end, but about 4 years old still.

Am I the only one who thinks the Millenium Falcon has been given a bit too much of a character shield? Now they're dedicating a book to it some 60+ years after it was first built?

As Threepio hasn't appeared in Legacy, and Han&Leia&Allana will survive, perhaps it and not the Millennium Falcon will be the next, necessary big name casualty in MF?
