What is that?

Well, it's basically like Family Feud. With forums.

Wut.

For those of you who are not up on your late-70's American game shows, you play Family Feud like this, only usually much, much more better:

Soo . . . two teams from different forums get together and see who can give the most common, stereotypical answers to a set of culture-specific questions?

That would be it, yes.

Who are we supposed to be matching answers with? GIMER had people trying to match answers with himself and two psychotic moderators. It's practically impossible to answer questions like that.

The host of Forum Feud, DarthIntegral, has a stats book that lists the most common answers to a whole bunch of questions. Players will be trying to match answers with a large group of strangers in some English-speaking country. No psychotic moderators are necessary. But you know they'll be there anyway.

What are these questions going to be about?

Stuff. A large variety of common-knowledge stuff . . . that Inty has in his book, aaand which I cannot precisely identify. Don't worry about whether you know enough trivia, though. The point isn't to get the "right answer," it's to get the most popular answer.

Since we're copying Family Feud, only with forums, I suppose we'll have the "Lit Family" playing against the "EUC Family" and the "Senate Family," etc.?

That's it exactly. Only you can make up team names that are less dumb.

And how do we sign up for this?

We have one of those ever-so-exciting "copy, paste, and add yourself" lists below.

Once you have a team put together, you need to choose a team captain, a set of colors: foreground and background, what forum you're representing, and your team nickname. Send all of this information in a PM to DarthIntegral.

Hey! There's only five slots on that list! What if I'm #6?

In that case you start all over again, with #1. There can only be 5 people on a team, but each forum can send multiple teams if they want.

Well, now there are two teams of five and one with three. I'm on the one with three. WTH do I do now?!

You can do one of three things.

A) We can find a team from another forum that only has two people, and we can combine you. You must choose the forum you are allied with, however. YOU MUST CHOOSE!!!

B) You can move yourself onto that thing labeled "Alternates List." This means that you think you would like to play, but you aren't sure you can commit to participating in the whole game. If someone from an established team disappears or quits, then that team may go hunting for a new member on the Alternates List. That could be you. If you are only available for certain dates, say, only after July 15 or only before August 1, it would help if you'd write those limitations next to your name.

C) Find two more friends of yours and force them to join up at gunpoint.

Speaking of committing to the whole game . . . how long is this supposed to last, anyway?

The tentative start date is currently being discussed, but should be a week or two after July 7. The run time will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 months, depending on how many teams sign up, and whether Inty decides to run more than one round at a time. He figures a "round" should last about a week.

A "round" is what again . . . ?

A round is two teams facing off against each other. There are two bits of it. In the first bit, the two team captains compete to pick the most popular answer to a particular question. If both captains pick the #1 answer, the one who answered first wins. Speed and conformity are therefore your friends.

For people who do not like printed directions, a round opening is what is happening here, up until about 0:35. Only instead of buzzers, imagine PM's to the host.

The second bit happens after a team captain wins. Players answer questions one by one until they have either "cleared the board" or gotten three answers wrong. If they get three "strikes," the other team gets its turn, and can grab all the original team's points.

Basically, watch the rest of that "what is happening here" clip to see how it works.

Of course, we post our answers in the game thread instead of shouting them out, because only admins can hear every word you say through your monitor.

So . . . what do we win? Is it awesome?

Sorta kinda.

The team that wins a round gets their forum banner put up in the losing team's forum for either 24, 48, 72, or 96 hours, depending on just how completely the losing team has been annihilated. I say we give 'em all the Hoff, even if that one does say "Hoff Squad" on it! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ::laughs nefariously:: HAAAA!

The winning team will get their team colors, VIPship and title for varying lengths of time. The time will be the same as the amount of time the losing forum has to keep the winners' banner up.

For accumulating 50 or fewer points: 24 hours
For 51 to 99 points: 48 hours
For 100 to 149 points: 72 points
For 150 to 199 points, one week

After a round's over . . . then what?

The losing team is eliminated, and the winning team goes on to face other winning teams. The matches and eliminations are done in a similar way to the NBA playoffs, or the Hottie Wars thread, or this:



The ultimate Forum Feud winners will get custom colors, VIPship, and title for two weeks.

If you want to play, you have to choose just one forum. Obviously Lit is way more awesomer, but we'll understand if you want to represent a different forum. (Traitor!!)

The game will probably take place in its own dedicated forum rather than traveling around.
