As much as I'm not happy about the delay, if it the delay ensures that the quality of the product will be primo, then so be it. I've said it before, and I said it again - as much as I like KOTORII, I think the game could have benefitted from being delayed a few months that would help polish up a few things.

Yeah, I'd take a delay over a rushed product anytime. It's a little funny how everything keeps getting delayed, though -- eventually, I think we're going to have about three books a month coming out in 2012 and nothing before that.

THEORY: We are pretty certain Abeloth has been trapped in the Maw for a long time. Links have been made to connect this with why the Jedi Knights are going crazy. We know that Abeloth was able to enthrall the Sith hit squad, including powerful leaders of the group.

If Abeloth could enslave someone so strong in the Force that easily, it stands to reason she could probably enthrall anyone.

Including everyone's favorite COS, who spent quite a bit of her life in the Maw.

Perhaps Daala is under Abeloth's sway? I would predict so.

Second THEORY: Kenth Hamner was one of the Jedi who scouted out Shelter during the Vong War (not sure if this is legit, but it's possible). During this exploration into the Maw, he discovered Abeloth, who infested him like she did the young Jedi later stationed there. When Centerpoint was destroyed, setting her free, she took control of Kenth. Between her thralls of Daala and Kenth, she was able to maneuver him into the Grand Master position.

It would explain why Kenth has been following Daala so blindly- because they both serve the same Master.

How come it looks like Daala is in her 30's, and is supposedly older then Han?

And Tenel Ka looks like she is about in her mid 40's?

Did TK just not age well?

That might be part of it (Hapan rulers have constant pressure on them), but I thought she was the best looking one who had a picture in the Atlas. She definitely looks better than Jaina, but then that might be from comparing her to Leia who they've been keeping with Carrie's age and hasn't really looked all that aged outside a few sources.

JediMatteus posted:
If Jacen had been captured I think he would have reverted back to the Jedi, the Luke we all know would been able to get to reason with him

Jacen never would have been redeemed.... not because of what he did, but his logic behind it

And I have to raise a practical question. If Jacen was sitting in a cell, how would you ever know whether or not he was redeemed? Sith Lords are master liars, and words are cheap. Jacen also seems to be completely beyond any sort of mental or emotional probe. And he certainly wouldn't have any opportunity to let his actions PROVE he was redeemed, not while sitting in that cell. So once Jacen goes into that cell, how do you EVER let him out again? You don't. Jacen dies in that box.

So the question is, how much do you risk? Your life? Ok, sure. Your family's life? Uh ... The lives and freedoms and safety of trillions of sentients? All to give Jacen the opportunity to slowly die in a box? The risk/reward equation there is not favorable. Wouldn't that be, to quote Vergere, "a little sick?"

And while we're on the subject, it's worthwhile to go back and look at Luke's heroic redemption of Vader a little more closely. Luke feels there is good in Vader, and just knows that he needs to bring him back from the Dark Side. He senses it. (That's important. If Luke didn't sense the same thing in Jacen, there wouldn't be much point in trying something similar with him.) So he hatches a bold plan: he will surrender to the Imperials, let them bring him to Vader, and then convince Vader to leave with him and help him bring down the shield so that the Emperor can die when the Rebels blow up the Death Star. Cut to the conversation on the landing platform. Well, that didn't work out so well, did it? "My father is truly dead." I guess it's on to Plan B: wait for the rebels to blow up the Death Star and die alongside Vader and the Emperor. But soon the Emperor makes it clear that THIS sure isn't a likely scenario, either. Luke, in a burst of frustration, attacks, and finds himself fighting Vader.

So now what? Even if he can beat Vader, he sure as heck isn't going to be defeating the Emperor. What options does he have? Go to the Dark Side? Uh, no. The only move left to him is to desperately go back to failed Plan A: convince Vader to help him against the Emperor. And when Vader brilliantly taunts "perhaps SHE will!" Luke abandons that idea too. He gives in to his fear and rage and frustration and whups Vader. And then at the critical moment, he rejects the Dark Side. Is he thinking "THIS will bring my father back" or is he thinking "I will not become HIM. I'll die before I turn to the Dark Side"? I'm thinking it's option number 2. But of course, his example DOES bring Vader back.

So, Luke's first attempt to redeem Vader (on the landing platform) was an honestly noble gesture born of Luke's sense that there was still good in Vader, with a backup plan to die with him on the Death Star. Risking his life and his life only on the chance to bring Vader back. But his second attempt (on the Death Star) was practically forced. What the hell else was Luke going to do? And the act that did end up redeeming Vader was not calculated to do so.

So Luke's traditional perceived EU characterization as someone who will go to absolutely irrational lengths to redeem any darksider seems a bit ... unwarranted. At least based on what we see in ROTJ.

Yep, Daala looks young for a 60-70 something year old. Could have mistaken her for Tenel Ka. Lol its funny because she looks like a sweet and a gentle person, which is the total opposite of her!!! laugh

They need to make her look a wee bit more plastic so us Earthlings will think she's had surgical reconstruction. Maybe make one eye a little more beautiful than the other.

Bah.
