Obi Wan and Anakin were both Knighted Jedi, because they both did extraordinary things (Obi Wan defeating a sith lord, the first Jedi to do that in a 1000 years, and Anakin's heroism in the Clone Wars). There are exceptions made when Padawans (or trainees) do extraordinary things.

She led the group through the underbelly of Coruscant and then attached the "beacon" to Caedus' cape and then saved Kyle Katarn. She also betrayed the order in earlier books by working for Jacen in earlier novels. I agree that the signs of Ben show him to be on his way to becoming a very accomplished jedi knight in his own right. I guess my only gripe as other people have stated before in previous posts is the writer's unwilling to commit to A: a standard defintion of when one becomes a knight and B: developing the back story of new characters in their study of becoming a Jedi. All this would have really required was a few scenes spread out through the novels of Ben learning from his elders. Ala the way Jacen learned from Luke during Vector Prime or Anakin learning from Mara in Dark tide 1. The last time we saw Ben in my recollection of any sort of training was from Jacen during betrayal

That actually makes sense. Lots actually. I do wish they'd use Corran Horn once in a while. The Jedi Master was once a non Force using one man Corsec and Rogue Squadron phenomenon. He and Ben would get on quite nicely. I would think as Master and apprentice as well.

One thing I do like about Ben's GAG past is that it really makes him his mother's son as well as his father's. Sure, he's a Skywalker with all the potential yada yada yada, but he was also the naive follower/personal assassin of a fascist Sith Lord, just like Mom.

CadderlySoaring posted:According to Sue, MF is 2 years after LotF so Ben will be 17, I believe. As you say, we're still not sure whether Aaron's FotJ:Book 1 will be post-LOTF but it's a good bet it will be. It's not an X-Wing novel (which sometimes focused on the past) and Aaron is someone caught up with the current timeline. Until we get an official press release/announcement, Aaron, Sue and Del Rey will stay mum on what timeframe it is exactly though. I'm guessing it's post-LOTF and likely a year after MF (or during the same time frame).
