So, we know Luke dies at one point, so they're not all immortal. Legacy goes 100 years after the Battle of Yavin, and to think that they're still alive is just plain dumb. So how do they go? In my opinion, Del Rey is trying to avoid killing them off, and are instead trying to kill the younger characters off, seen in Anakin and Jacen's deaths. The Star Wars galaxy needs a new generation of hero, and even if the younger generation is trying to take their place, they're have to kick the bucket soon.
When will they do it? How will they do it? Will they even do it on screen?
Discuss how you think they will go, and how you think Del Rey (if the do it by the time Del Rey's contract expires)wil do it?

Han will once again be trapped in carbonite and placed aboard the Millennium Falcon which is set adrift. Then he is found and freed by Cade & co. nearly 100+ years later, only to be killed by an anonymous Sith?

Well, all I can say is that this title, Fate of the Jedi 1 by Aaron Allston detonates something big. I mean someone we love has to die in it. No?

Don't we have a thread about this at least once a week?
If their death IS chronicled in some kind of story, I think it should involve a multimedia crossover, i.e. comics, books and a video game. The Death of Luke Skywalker would probably garner some interest even from fans long removed from the EU.

Maybe Luke finally died in Millennium Falcon, and this series will be about the Jedi civil war that leads to the Imperial Knights?

Doubtful. Del Rey simply doesn't have the foresight to something as...well, necessary as bringing the focus to the new characters. They said they were in NJO- then Anakin ended up dead (by far the most popular second-generation character) and Luke killed Shimmra. Then LOTF came, and they never even tried to pretend Caedus was a credible threat to Luke. The last third of that series can be summarized as Luke deeply contemplating whether he should stop playing WoW and kill Jacen or send someone else to do it for him. We all know of his decision.

Not anytime soon, I would think. They'll want to leave open the possibility of writing more stories featuring them for as long as they consider it feasible.
darthcaedus1138 posted: How will they do it?
Offscreen, I'd guess. Have the last book featuring them, chronologically-speaking, and then have the next book, set however many years afterwards, talking of them as if they were dead. Might even leave it unexplained, if they wanted to leave the possibility open.
darthcaedus1138 posted: Will they even do it on screen?
Probably not. The only way I could see them doing it on-screen would be a Yoda-style fade away scene with Luke, but that's about it.

Attack of the Clones was released May 16, 2002. Star Wars: Republic covered the Clone Wars starting Jan 22, 2003. What's the next big Star Wars project? Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fall 2008.

They'll never kill them on-screen, Lucas would probably never allow it. If they were going to do it, it would be a gap in the books, then after 10-20 years the next book starts up, and they would say that all three of them are dead.

Well, you're half right.
Han is found, freed, and then ends the Sith Empire by shooting Krayt in the back.

They should do more of those ads. I almost bought those minis just so I could do that.

Han will go out in a blaze of glory.
Leia will go out like Yoda.
Luke will go out tougher than Boromir in LOTR.

You know, I flat out forgot about the ad.
It was more of a reference to how Han Solo killed Palpatine by shooting him in the back... but if they make the ad canon...

What are people so worried about? You've seen them for hundreds of stories. Retire or kill them already, and show something new. Solo's 70, for Mother Brain's sake.

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?
