Some Jedi Questions...LOTF and Legacy
|
How many Jedi are there in LOTF? I don't remember reading an exact number so if anyone knows that'd be great. And also how many Jedi during the Legacy comic series after the Massacre of Ossus. I assume there are about 300 or so because of the hidden temple but I don't know for sure.
And also, WHY are the Jedi hiding constantly in every book series and some comics? Is it because there are not alot of them? A few examples...
NJO - Everybody hates us, let's go to Eclipse and hide, do a battle here and there, then hide some more.
LOTF - War is coming...HIDE! Go to Endor, flee for your lives, run from battle!
Legacy Series - Go to the super secret hidden temple because we must...HIDE!
Cade: "Let's hunt down Krayt"
Jedi Council: "No. We have to hide."

You've changed things... forever. There's no going back. See, to them, you're just a freak... like me! - The Joker Why... so... serious? It's all... part of the plan. This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them.

It was vagely mentioned in one of the early LOTF books that there was roughly 100 active Jedi Knight and Masters in the Order, which is also the one of the main reasons they hide. Even at the height of the Jedi Order they were always outnumbered by there enemies. Also there are constant reminders that Sith/Dark Jedi normally wield greater powers than thier jedi counter parts since Jedi come into there ablities slower and just completely do not use others. Take for example force lightning used by near ever Sith, while a Jedi could use his saber to deflect the bolts only few Masters like Yoda could counteract it with his own power. Also the Sith/Dark Jedi constantly have the aid of other forces bent to their will which the Jedi do not, they must rely on aid from people they trust which normally backfires on them. Also it is the Jedi way to avoid confrontation as they tend to go dark when they actively seek it which is why look does not go after Caedus himself as he forsees his fall to the darkside if he does.

I remember reading that somewhere as well, but I do remember that in the Unseen Queen that there were a total of nearly 300 Jedi...so if in 40 ABY there are only one hundred Knights and Masters, the orders numbers are probably closer to 350 to 400 strong including apprentices.

The number was never given in any of the Legacy of the Force books. In the Dark Nest trilogy, it was stated that after the Yuuzhan Vong War the number had grown to more than 300 Jedi. That's Masters, Knights, and Apprentices.
So you have something like the following:
25 ABY, Beginning of Yuuzhan Vong War: 100 Jedi
29 ABY, End of Yuuzhan Vong War: 50 Jedi
35 ABY, Beginning of Dark Nest Crisis: 300+ Jedi
40 ABY, Beginning of Legacy of the Force: Unknown

Is it just me, or are the Jedi beginning to sound more and more like the Gorgonites from Small Soldiers.

Why do almost all the Legacy Jedi wear robes and only use blue- and green-bladed lightsabers?

If you're talking the comics, they don't all wear robes (and the robes they do wear aren't anywhere close to the Ruusan Order standard), and we've only seen the barest handful of 'sabers.
If you're talking loltiff, well...

Maybe it's because they realised that all sabre colour variety means is that authors compete to make their favourite characters have more unique colours?
In the Legacy comics, it makes sense that Jedi wouldn't want to use Silver or Red blades so that they'll be distinquishable from Imperial Knights and Sith. You don't want any Jedi running around killing their allies because in the confusion of battle they just decieded to attack anything with a red blade.
I would guess that as the New Jedi Order increased in numbers, it lost the opportunities for individualism that were present when it was just Luke and a few force sensitives he found living on various dump heaps.
