Sure, but when have we ever seen Vader actually try to use the Rebellion as a distraction to fight Palpatine? Vader's always been about crushing the Rebels. There's a bigger game here... grin

No, it just means that things took on a life of their own. One of the reasons for Vader being so desperate to crush the Rebellion could now directly stem from his feelings of being personally responsible for it.

Unless you're suggesting that Vader has MPD and it was Anakin who gave the order to Jacob, with Vader having no memory of it. tongue

Very Tyler Durdan.

when in the timeline is TFU set? I seem to be unsure and never read a date yet... though, I wonder if teenage leias age works with all this. SA seems to be from the looks 16 to 20 yo while Leia is said in the book to be about his age. so... 4BBY? 2BBY? I always had the impression or memory got it wrong, that the rebellion was 3-5 years old in ANH. Leia was per ROTS 18yo in ANH, so... how young is she really? actually being a senatorial observer, is she a senator yet or just aid of Bail Organa... she became senator at 16 2BBY. with the crispin Han solo Trilogy ca. 5BBY I wonder where to place TFU. do we have anything official on the placement?

The Rebellion is founded in 2 BBY.

Maybe "officially" but it was around well before that.

Hey Uli, Tyler Durden would make for one bad-ass and really funny Sith Lord.
"Listen up, maggots. You are not special... You will melt in my hand like a snowflake..."

Will we ever know who Jacob's mama was?
And how pissed will Palpy be at Vader for taking the boy in the first place?

Or will Sidious reward Vader's cunning?

EDIT:
Darth Durden is coming!

More like:

Darth Vader:
The first rule of the Secret Apprenticeship is... you do not talk about the Secret Apprenticeship!

The second rule of the Secret Apprenticeship is... you DO NOT TALK about the Secret Apprenticeship!

Third rule: If you're stopped, go limp or tap out, the Secret Apprenticeship is over.

Fourth rule: Only two guys to the Secret Apprenticeship.

Fifth rule: One Secret Apprenticeship at a time.

Sixth rule: No decent clothing, rags only.

Seventh Rule: The Secret Apprenticeship will go on as long as it has to.

And, finally, if this is your first night within the Secret Apprenticeship, you have to shine my helmet.

TC

Or maybe more like: The Emperor turns the plan around on Vader and drops the problem in his lap to deal with. Hence it's no longer a distraction for Palpatine, but instead for Vader, because if he doesn't get results, the consequences (for him) are not so pleasant. Palpatine need not even discover Vader's hand in it...though knowing Vader he'd wonder if he did and just wasn't saying anything about it (and to be fair, if he did he likely wouldn't, just to keep Vader guessing). Or conversely, once the unified Rebellion proves that it's genuinely troublesome, Vader kicks himself for the idea and decides to shut it down himself.

Despite the promotional prominance of that trick, do we actually know if it's really in the story?

more spoilers

young Leia had been peacefully kidnapped by Palpatines Forces and sent as senatorial observer to Kashyyyk watching the enslavement of the wookiees. Starkiller saved her and sent her off to Alderaan, later he saved Bail Organa on Felucia and got that way Bails help to talk to other senators about open rebellion, despite Bail thinking it is too dangerous.

leia even thought palpatine will sent a killer to assassinate her when seeing Starkiller. but she was fearless and proud. and stubborn as we know her

Jedi Twilight has some kind of nascent resistance movement already active several months after ROTS.

movements yeah, but no coordinated galaxy spanning rebellion. sector, system, planet groups exist... the apprentice is going to unite them all, or starting with the biggest ones, like Garm, Mon and Bail
