How long after the last book is this one set? Or how long after ROTS?

The destruction of Camaas happens early in the book, so there you have a solid reference. It has been "months" since the last book, but I don't think it is said how many. The book itself span a few weeks.

We musn't underestimate "American blundering". I was with them when they "blundered" into Berlin in 1918.

Both Panaka and Typho are part of the Legacy quest, which is the main story quest in Galaxies. If Typho dies in CNII, it sorta screws that up.

Charlemagne19 posted: Cause "Broken bones in the neck" isn't "Nothing is physically wrong with her."
The devil you say!
And which one of the above is supported by what actually took place in ROTS?
As has been repeatedly emphasized: the SAME AUTOPSY that claimed "broken bones in the neck" also claimed "dead child".
Charlemagne19 posted: I think that the book actually does retcon Padme's death if the opening chapter is any indication.
Sorry, but it's over.
In Star Wars, films retcon books. Books don't retcon films. That is the whole point of "levels of canon".

Yes, and we're going to argue that Obi Wan Kenobi put broken neck in there for some reason?

Kaird of the Nedeji, I know it's been months between books but is he still hanging out with the crew or has there been mention that he finally made it home?
I didn't see Kaird or Nick Rostu listed in the DP.

Kaird has left the planet, but we don't really get to know what happened to Nick.

I would. Obi-wan had failed so catastrophically and had made so many mistakes at that point that breaking the neck from his dead acquaintance's body will probably have seemed like a little thing to do.

Thinking about it logically, if there's a new explanation for Padme's death in the JT series, we should go with it.
Premise 1] C-Canon cannot contradict G-Canon
Premise 2] C-Canon contradicts the explanation given for Padme's death
Conclusion] The explanation for Padme's death in the film is not G-Canon
I mean, if JT was written before the films, it'd be a different story... but since it's written afterwards.
Heh, I'm just messing... (the first premise has holes in it, anyway) I tend to agree with you really. I just don't think saying it's not debatable will work on people. Especially since the retconning power of the films only demonstrably works on materials released prior, and the droid (unlikely as it is) could just be wrong.
Though I'm still going with: "Padme dies as the Force Bond between herself and Anakin is finally broken", rather than his broken heart nonsense.
