Hi, I’m a person who’s been following Starwars EU since the nineties and I know there are people here who’ve been doing so even further back then that. I remain constantly fascinated at the way the History of Starwars evolved - sometimes forward in time, sometimes back, sometimes we get bits and pieces of events that we learn more about later etc.
That is why I’m always intrigued by Starwars timelines. I am and will always remain a great admirer of the Timetales on this site – Chris McElroy (and helpers) have done a great job in its construction.
Encyclopedias are great and I read through wookipedia and Bob Vitas’ work however a timeline is greater in understanding the whole "feel" of the galaxy, events taking place and what characters are going through at particular points in time - a sense of evolution can be felt through reading.
Don’t get me wrong – there is no better or worse, encyclopedias and timelines each have their own purposes and uses.
Some months ago, I came across a site which really enhanced my interest in Starwars Timelines. This is Eddie’s Timeline and can be found in the link at the end of the post.
I was astonished to find that a single person was attempting to write a day to day account of the Starwars Saga – a bold and ambitious project which I admire every part of its creation.
Through a thread in this forum, I was discussing with other people how users of this forum can help in creating a timeline.
But then…another idea came to my mind…why can’t people help in contributing to Eddie’s timeline itself and build on what is already created?!!
I immediately PM’ed Eddie and The2ndQuest for consultation, and I was very happy that they not only helped but encouraged this idea. Obviously we agreed on certain important things for the organization of this thread.
The way I see it, the more people contribute, the more accurate and detailed the timeline will be.
For example, someone posts a summary of a certain EU material.
Then other people can point out mistakes or extra details – or else – copy and paste it into a word document – modify it and repost it in the thread.
This could repeat itself – therefore the summary could continue being improved upon by users and continue being posted in this thread till it is complete, well-detailed, and free from errors.
Obviously Eddie will then make his own amendments as though people will be contributing, this project was and will always remain his. I believe that a leader is important in this development as he will be putting everything in place and see that the timeline flows correctly.
Also, having many writers would create a difficulty in having different styles of writing – something which a leader would immediately solve.
However, users who give contributions will be mentioned in a page on the site – as part of the work is rightfully theirs.
I see this as a great chance for theforce.net users of the EU community to work together and create something tremendous – a day to day account of the History of Starwars from start to finish.
Also do not be disheartened if a novel/comic/game you wish to contribute in is too long. You can also write summaries of parts of it – chapters or sections and maybe someone else will continue.
You can also simply just correct errors you see in writings of other users and discuss them.
Eddie informed me that even notes regarding days/months passing between events are valued.
What matters most is – every part counts and every contribution, minor as it may seem is appreciated.
The2ndQuest agreed that a mod will change the title of the thread according to the franchise that is needed.
I would like to end by saying that I am really no one here. I am taking this initiative out of my love of Starwars and its continually growing expanded universe and the grand idea of fans working together to create a detailed timeline – which in my opinion has already a good start with Eddie’s work.
I merely gave my opinion about how this may be organized and will help with further organization and publicity of this thread.
I would like to thank Eddie for the work he’s already done, and for accepting my help, and also The2ndQuest for his ideas and approval of this thread.
And most importantly….
I thank you all in anticipation for your contribution to this thread.

And so it begins!
Anything from the Young Jedi Knights and up would be helpful to the timeline!

I really like the idea of everyone massing their (not slight) cumulative knowledge to help Eddie continue and expand upon his great work.
Where dyou need us to start?

Well, that's really optional, but since I am dabbling myself in the KotOR-era now (and I want to kinda steer away from the Clone Wars until an official date for the new series/movie/books is announced), I thought that maybe the NJO-era would be nice (i.e. everything from the Young/Junior Jedi Knights and up)... But that's rather optional... Everything after RotJ is okay with me at this time...
And once again, thanks to Keeper_of_Swords who came up with this great idea!!! He will be mastering this thread and act as a kinda liaison between contributors and me...

Well, ever since Rogue&a1/2 started on his chronological journey I have been doing a similar thing. I started at KOTOR and am currently just past Episode III, starting on the Last Of The Jedi series.
Also, I'm heavily involved in this thread if its any help:

You do great work, Eddie- and obviously I have an affinity for day-to-day timelines.
BTW, Eddie- I haven't checked recently, but what progress do you have in the Dark Times era currently? Given my falling behind on my CW timeline, I think it's best I either end, hand off or contribute my work on my Dark Times Timeline, as I'd rather focus my efforts on finishing the CW one and eventually retro-fitting it to the new CW timeline changes.

Thanks...
Regarding the Dark Times-era, I have not continued it ever since I took down RotS and the following months (I believe I still have to finish the last few Last of the Jedi books, as well as Dark Lord)... I have seen your Dark Times chronology (even have it bookmarked under my 'timeline info' bookmarks), and find it very helpful. As I am currently involved in the KotOR era (making chances according to info from the Jedi vs. Sith guide, the KotOR Campaign Guide and the Dark Horse handbook, and adding 15+ of KotOR issues), I will not dabble in the Dark Times-era for quite a while... And I applaud your work (as well as that of several other active timeliners on the DH forums) on the Clone Wars controversy... I will steer clear of that until we have a more official date for the new stuff (otherwise I may have to change that era in a few years yet again...)

You’re welcome Eddie! And thanks!
Well, I’ve been checking my starwars material in case there’s something useful and I found these:
Star Wars – The Official Souvenir Annual 1998
Star Wars Annual (Marvel) (1977,1978,1979)
The Empire Strikes Back Annual No. 2 (Marvel) (1981)
Return of the Jedi Annual (Marvel) (1984)
The complete set of the Star Wars Fact-Files
If you need anything from the above – even just specific info from a particular publication of one of the fact-files, just let me know – I can even scan entire pages as the fact-files are put in binders unlike magazines.
Recap of what’s above:
Anything from the Young Jedi Knights and up would be helpful indeed

The only items I have that Eddie doesn't, that I'm aware of, are a few of the obscure rpg magazines. None of them are set post YJK. I'm currently trying to read through the continuity in chronological order, but I'm still in the clone wars era, so it'll be a while before I get to the post-ep. VI stuff.

That's okay, I'll be needing day-to-day summaries of everything, so if you are bored and feel to write one up, feel free to do so!!

No hurry Plaristes, any help is cherished.
I plan to write summaries of the marvel annuals I have for the timeline though I don’t know when I’ll start as summer is ending and I start teaching soon. Nevertheless, I intend to do the job someday.

Also, may I add that if someone wants to contribute a storyline (or part of a storyline) related to a game, they are most welcome

hmm, thought this thread would fare better, still not giving up on it though. Also hope I eventually start slowing down on notes I've got to prepare for work and take hold onto writing summeries from the starwars comics I have.
