The beginning of a whole new era for loner Jedi Zayne Carrick launches our clever, clumsy hero, his con-artist best friend Gryph, and the bold Jarael into the kind of seat-of-your-pants adventure only Star Wars can provide!

The perfect starting point for new readers, this story kicks off the next phase in Zayne's life with a long-shot swindle gone wrong! Gryph's got a plan to part some shady-dealing Chev from their unjustly earned credits, but he'll need more than a disguise to protect him when they catch on to his game!

A New Era for the Old Republic!

Bad, Ephant Mon! Bad! That's not your food! tongue

I'm kind of bummed that the whole epicness of Vindication won't be leading to anything important. Con-artistry really isn't that interesting in such a fruitful time period...then again, maybe this is just a cover up for the next big thing. Is that Ephant-looking guy the "prophet"? If so, of what? I guess I'll reserve judgement...I was kind of hoping for a Revan cover though, oddly enough...

Hey, that's a really good-looking cover. I do hope that the post-Vindication route that Zayne sets out on isn't just a bunch of sidequests, but there's no reason to assume that with such a small blurb. Even if he does team up with the Revanchists, this could be a setup for that... slash, a clever ploy by JJM to not give away the ending of Vindication?

Poor Jareal. Damsel in distress again?

Then again, the covers haven't always been 100% accurate to the event of the story. tongue

A vague description, but oh well, guess they're trying not to spoil the end of Vindication or anything like that, so its understandable. Always nice to see Jarael though. The description makes it sound very... generic though, but hopefully that's just to prevent spoilers and anyway, just more of Zayne and Gryph's misadventures are fine too. And funny they're pitching it as a nice jumping on point again, I thought Vector was supposed to be that nice jumping on point about half a year ago? Oh well, guess trying to attract more readers is always a good thing.

Though what I find most interesting perhaps is the title of the arc. "Prophet Motive"? Aside from the pun on "profit" and "prophet" (which I think a certain other sci-fi series also used), wonder if it relates back to the Jedi Covenant as well, like if Zayne and company were still investigating them. Either way, I'm eager to see where Zayne goes after his name is finally cleared.

I'm with Jeff here. Vindication is huge, and I don't want too much of a letdown. On the other hand, I completely trust JJM at this point, because he hasn't gone wrong so far. Given that, I'm pretty confident that it'll make sense. I'll be curious to see how things tie up at the end of Vindication.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being "a few months later" or some such. Also, I'm guessing that Gryph's plan is part of something bigger going on, probably including stuff brought up by their current span of adventures. The title is... suggestive. mischief

I really like the cover. I don't recognize Dan Scott's style. Has he done any SW comics?

I WARNED you -- now EPHANT MON demands JARAEL!

And yeah, it's probably a few months later. I believe JJM has expressed a liking to doing such a jump after a major event before.

I do wonder if they'll touch on how Gryph escaped Serroco or not after Zayne's name is hopefully cleared, since so far, this issue sounds like just more of the status quo, Zayne with Gryph and Jarael just trying to get by. Gryph apparently didn't just escape Serroco by getting on a different ship or anything simple like that, based on Haazen's comment. Doesn't sound like "Rohlan" is involved yet, but who knows at this point. Even with the Covenant plot somewhat concluded, its not like there aren't plenty of plot threads to follow up on.

A time jump could work, I just hope not too big of one. Oh well, KotOR has pretty much always been excellent, not much reason to worry now.

Looks good. Glad to see they came up with a new direction, while still retaining the fugitive angle. Also, the Chevin bad guy is something new and different. Should be cool.

I don't think he's done any interiors, but he did the covers for Legacy 22 and Rebellion 16.

And yeah, it looks awesome!

Gorgeous cover.

The blurb, though, is highly intriguing. We naturally know that there will be a new phase of his life after Vindication (though I suppose this precludes the unlikely event of his death), but there's no explicit indication that he's been vindicated or condemned. The fact that he's wandering around with Gryph engaging in cons strongly suggests that he wasn't exactly welcomed back into the Jedi Order with open arms -- but he could have been and then said "Screw you guys, I'm not joining back up," or he could have been vindicated and rejoined and the whole "con" is a cover for some Jedi scheme. On the face of it, I'd guess he's not fully cleared, but with JJM you really never know.

And I love that.

CHEVIN... with a BABE!

Well, the only thing I can complain about is that this breaks the "12 issues = 1 year = 1 season" pattern.

Not much, eh?
