Heh, I was reminded of something, when I read your comment: Didn't Vergere spend some time on the Falcon in one of Luceno's Agents of Chaos novels? She may have left something behind. Something Han, Leia or Allana discover in MF...

My impression is that it was supposed to be a stand-alone. But I guess if they wanted to lead into the next series they could do this, but then it would be an unresolved plot point, and wouldn't that sort of make it book 1. My guess is people would feel cheated.
I'm looking at this book more in the vein of Death Star that didn't tie in and was more a stand-alone novel.
I have wondered about the possibility of this being a lead-in. Their decision to swap it with Mindor and bring it forward as more of a "LOTF Epilogue" makes me feel it may be more of a "linking novel" than a stand alone.
Looking back to Dark Nest, that was fine as a stand alone series, but was obviously written with being a linking series between NJO and LOTF in mind at the same time. So, I wouldn't be that surprised if MF raises some unanswered questions to intrigue people into FOTJ.
I'm more curious about Blood Oath, personally. IIRC its being release around the same time as FOTJ1, so it feels a bit too late to be a warm up, MF is better placed as an early teaser. In that vein, I'm thinking MF will be a Skywalker/Solo "What have they been up to?" lead-in, with Blood Oath doing the same for Zekk (and probably other side characters).
I do hope though that Blood Oath isn't setting Zekk up as a new villain or something. Not that I'd mind, but I feel One Sith spy or similar would be too similar to LOTF.

I bet Luceno and LFL are reading this stuff about Vergere and laughing. It's a book about the Falcon and her history, not Vergere. If any Sith stuff is in it it will tie into Palpatine stuff. But I feel like this is going to be about smugglers, bounty hunters, ect. Han and Lando stuff, not Jedi/Sith stuff.
A welcome change for a book before the big Fate of the Jedi kick off.

I don't think the MF book will be about Verege and her so called sith allance, I think it will be a small plot strand that will be expanded on in FOTJ, also in the first blurb that came out wasn't there something about Luke trying to find away for jedi after jacen's fall maybe its that sets up Luke's and Ben's journey in FOTJ

OMG I feel like we're going in circles!!
I'm officially out of the Vergere in MF discussion.
Wonder how big Lando's role will be in the book. Would love to see how he got the Falcon and learn some of his history with the ship. Also, maybe we will get some follow up on his kid and pray God he had twins or another boy after the girl so the Calrissian line can continue on. Letting Solo fade out was a capital crime, but if Calrissian goes, too, well... the galaxy will be a lot less cooler for it.

My impression reading all the upcoming threads is by large people seem to feel Del Ray have taken note of people's problems with LOTF. So, while I've never had any problems with Vergere being a Sith, it could be interesting if they wanted to show her trying to kill Palpatine to bring back some of her "greyness" (marking her as a "New Sith" to Palp's "Old Sith").
However, I confess, even should she be in it, I'm unsure how much I see Vergere being a main plot. It strikes me as something that would be more likely to be a side plot to grow into FOTJ, like the "Dark Jacen" overtones of DN that led into LOTF, with the Swarm War clearly filling the role of "main plot".
I can't say though that I'd be surprised if it was about something like Black Sun. It would be quite easy to create a story relating to an underworld organisation trying to overthrow the galactic government that spanned multiple decades and administrations.

I totally agree if there is any thing about darth chicken head in the book its going to be a side thread to the main plot, it would be a welcome change for the criminal elements of the SW galaxy to play a larger part once again in a sw novel

Zorrixor I've recently come to like the idea of seeing it in terms of Luke making it through Betrayal to Sacrifice, but stopping there. He was willing to play with the dark side to learn its tricks, but when Palpatine started preaching "kill your sister" he woke up to reality. Jacen, in contrast, thought killing Mara would actually make him all powerful
But Jacen had already tricked people into getting involved in a war in DN; killed Nelani, mindwiped Ben and turned Tenel Ka's grandmother into a vegetable by the end of Betrayal; and had killed Fett's daughter by the end of Bloodlines. Luke never killed any innocents in the time he was on Byss. So I think Jacen was already closer to the dark side even by the end of Betrayal than Luke ever was.
I have wondered about the possibility of this being a lead-in. Their decision to swap it with Mindor and bring it forward as more of a "LOTF Epilogue" makes me feel it may be more of a "linking novel" than a stand alone.
Yes, I think MF may be more of a linking novel too, maybe something like a prequel to LotF.
I hope we get some spoilers for this book pretty soon.
