Who do you guys think it was that Ship sensed that was strong enough in the dark side for him to actually abandon the Tribe and go searchign for him after being with them for 2 years? (go go Jacen is still alive theories!) thinking
[/quote]

I took for granted it was his old friend Ben!

Made sense to me, as didn't one of The Tribe mention that Luke was only a few light years away? (Don't have copy with me so not sure of exact character or wording).

And then the team (Vestara et al) who go looking for Ship find The Skywalker's.

hmm yea makes some sense that it's Ben. Ship could have seen more potential in Ben than any of the lost tribe members and when Luke touched the codex drawing ship's attention he noticed Ben's presence there as well. Maybe Ship realized that these Sith were a bunch of Nancies compared to the Sith of Old lol "oh no! can't get a tiny cut on my face! That's a sign of weakness!" Speaking of which, I wonder what the Sith staying on planet think of those coming back from the space battles with the various injuries that are bound to happen lol

Ship was all, "the grandfather of this Ben Skywalker was so much more bad @$$ than this Vestara... and he was in a walking iron lung! I'll just go hang out with these Jedi rather than these 'Sith.'"

Hendo255 : hmm yea makes some sense that it's Ben.

I don't know... I don't think it's Ben. Ben was a bit darkish during that whole trip to Ziost (I think that was the dark planet), but he really hasn't been dark at all for a long while. I'm thinking that whatever dark thing that Luke felt in the Maw may be what Ship felt. Could be wrong though.

^^ Makes sense, I think.

Luke: Still, I think I make a pretty good Luke Skywalker.
Mara: Of course you do.
Luke: So before you began impersonating Mara, what was your real hair color?
Mara: Farmboy, you're asking for a beating...

My immediate thought upon completion of the book was that it was Tahiri that caught Ship's attention, due to her arrest at the hands of what appeared to be 3 incapable representatives - perhaps she slaughters them? It seemed to me that the suddenness with which Ship bolted meant that someone had just fully, and possibly irreversibly, turned to the dark side.

/me shrugs

I've gone back and re-read it, and have changed my mind!! It was "the rush of joy" part that made me think that Ship had felt Ben, since he was the one who found Ship and they do have a special bond etc. But the part about "pure dark side energy" does suggest that Ship sensed the big bad guy in The Maw!
So now I have a little theory brewing that Ship saves Ben at some point, and this is what leads Vestara to trust him, therefore leading to her eventually turning and becoming Mrs B Skywalker.

Interesting. This would work with my theory of the Celestial's enemies escaping due to the destruction of Centerpoint. Maybe when Jacen touched the codex they were still locked up securly so ship couldn't notice them but after Centerpoint went down with all of the now failing safe guards Ship can detect them and their impending breakout too? Theory's too long to retype, it's on the last page lol

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that's what it'll turn out to be. There are bad things going on in the Maw. Dark things. I'm surprised Ship sensed the Tribe before it sensed whatever was in the Maw, to be honest. I'm assuming Ship just went to the planet with the highest concentration of dark energy...which, at the time, was Kesh. Which means that if Ship sensed the Tribe instead of whatever dark energy is in the Maw, it wasn't at full strength or wasn't allowing itself to be sensed up until the point when both Luke and Ship sensed it at the end of OMEN. Which is.... interesting.

See, I thought it was pretty funny that Luke sensed a disturbance in the Force in the Maw after touching the Codex, when I would expect that Luke touching the Codex would cause a disturbance in the Force. tongue

It works both ways apparently. Luke touched Codex, and his already ridiculously powerful awareness in the Force magnifies to ten times its normal strength and he senses whatever is amiss in the Maw cluster with his enhanced perception in the Force. Ship senses whatever is amiss in the Maw cluster because -- why? We don't know why he sensed it so suddenly, or if whatever is in the Maw intentionally reached out and summoned it. When Luke touched the Codex, it created a disturbance in the Force by amplifying his presence and most of the Sith on Kesh sensed him because of it. It created various different effects for each person/group, but the end result was the same for each. Now all of them are headed to the Maw and will presumably converge. Maybe this dark "thing" in the Maw arranged for all of this to happen intentionally?

The Gree, Columi, Kwa, Sharu, Rakatans and Killiks all devolved or decayed, in the times before the Republic.

Maybe the threat in the Maw is responsible for their decay?

Then the Celestials came around, and contained them in the Maw, using Centerpoint.

Could this threat be the same weird presence hinted at being on Tython in the OLD REPUBLIC game, in the CROSSCURRENT novel that takes place after LOTF and during the Great Hyperspace War with Naga Sadow, and the untitled NOMI SUNDRIDER novel set between the wars with Exar Kun and the Mandalorians?

Rayar Thul, who is now emerging from the Jedi Temple, could have some valuable knowledge regarding this.

Maybe...

The Celestials/Architects are the SILENTIUM, and the threat from the Maw are the ABOMINOR?

The two warring droid factions that tore apart and threatened the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy?

The Mind-Walkers (maybe they're the Anzati?) and the Lost Tribe are not the real threat. Maybe the real threat can only be defeated by the combined powers of the Jedi, Sith, Aang-Tii, Baran Do, Mind Walkers, and all the other Force Cultures working together?

I posted this theory in the general FOTJ thread too.

Honestly.

I really really do not like Allana.
"Let's go there!"
"Sweety. . .it says warning."
"I wanna go in there!"
Ten seconds later she's screaming and holding onto Han.
It's like "Well what the krif did you expect?!"

Ben Skywalker was pretty alright in Fury. After that his character just got boring IMO. And I understand why. It's because he's suppose to be the spiritual successor of Anakin Solo. And well. . .he's just not. And it's my fault for looking at him in such a light, but that's how it is. I was pretty pissed at myself when Ben screamed out 'Oh! Teach me Flow Walking!' Pretty pissed because I was just thinking in my head a 16 year old Anakin Solo wouldn't be a little krif like this. And it just leads to me thinking Ben can be a little krif if he wants to, he's NOT Anakin Solo. But then Ben's whole attitude of 'We need to learn exactly what Jacen did!' And then when asked if he will do as well as his cousin he freaks out like 'I don't want to be anything like Jacen.' Make up your mind kid. Maybe I'll refer to him as Not-Anakin.

But the Skywalker line is pretty dead to me now. Luke being the only redeeming factor.
