Oh PANTS I'm gonna die... I think I should let my twitter friends know. Maybe call Mom after that.

Or one can choose to meet it with love.
Jacen had chosen.
But still, he was astonished to discover that the Universe could love him back.

I'm looking forward to this book, even if it is another book that is way too short to be a proper HC. I figure there will be a lot of folks out there who will dislike it due to the content. I have no problem with that. If they made a straight-up high romance SW novel I would be extremely uninterested in that, but I see that as having its own niche too. I just wouldn't buy it. wink

I think that this is what we need, a tale short on moral ethical crap, toned down jedi, and the sith of the week poppping out of a microwave in the garage planning to take over the galaxy with just a red lightsaber and vicious rage anger but?????? no real force powers except lighting and the mind control Emperoer replay style. Nope done with that.

This book was pretty good. Fast read a lots of action and gore. And Harmony buddy, I don't know about you, but horror does mix with star wars, especially when a good author rights a good story.

I rate this book 8.75 out of 10. Hope they come out with more books like this.

Greetings, once again!

I just got home from the very first book signing of Star Wars: Death Troopers, with author Joe Schreiber, who was also inducted as an honorary member into the 501st at the same time.

Some pics are up on in my Myspace album entitled "Death Troopers book signing." Also look look for some extra footage and audio in the next episode of The Dark Side Chats at the end of the month.

Until Next Time,

Got it for 30% off at Borders, read it already.

It would have had more impact on me had it not been for the Dark Horse SW Vector crossover. Those of you who skip the comics will have the full effect of 'Zombies' in the SW universe.

There are differences between Vector and Death Troopers. There are also similarities. For one, the zombification is not caused by the Force in Death Troopers, but a bio-engineered virus. In both stories, though, the plague first infects, one by the Force and the other by virus, then is passable to those who were not initially infected by being bitten, as Force Sensitives, who were immune to Rakghoul, could then be infected by a bite. Both conditions were cross-species affecting.

Han Solo made an appearance in both stories. As much as I love and adore Han Solo, some other smuggler could have been put in his place. Without Chewbacca, the Wookiee zombies may not have come off as poignantly, but it may have heightened suspense not to use characters in Dark Troopers who we know will survive. It was plenty Star Wars without Han and Chewie being there.

I don't think Death Troopers is out of place in the universe. A plague on a closed environment such as a starship has got to be the stuff of the SW in-universe legend, myth, and horror. There is also the undercurrent of a morality tale that some were afraid might be lacking. Good won, even if evil took some innocents down with it.

I don't want to give away too much of the ending, but I will say that it's open for a sequel. Certain things were not destroyed as they should have been, and I was disappointed that they were not. As a one-shot, the story was great. However, I don't think that we need Death Troopers II, III, etc ...

Got it last night, finished it today.

I liked it, it was suspenseful and fun and a great get away from the current FotJ series. A good read, and a fun addition.

Bah. No self-respecting horror franchise can give up before reaching the thirteenth entry, I say.

NO! God have mercy on your soul if you do watch them. I too, stopped caring after Saw 1, it was intelligent and original. The rest of the series is nothing more than torture porn. I was hoping that they would end it with 3, but they are releasing the 6th this month. I hoped that they would just let it go after this one, but no, apparently they are going to make 3 more. Ugh.

And I got Death Troopers yesterday, haven't had alot of time to read in between classes and work, but it is great so far. I'm about 80 pages in. For those who have read it, does it end with everything tied up, or does it leave room for a potential sequel?

Heh, nice name check: Quatermass and Phibes. I busted up laughing at those two (I wonder if Quatermass's first name was Bernard?)

Got an email today that my pb has shipped from Amazon UK. That surprised the heck out of me since they had a release date of Nov 5 on their website. Hopefully I will get it next week before the two-day postal strike here.

It, unfortunately, does leave room for a potential sequel. Unfortunate not because I did not thoroughly enjoy the book and not because I do not like the author, but unfortunate because I feel that we do not need a Zombie-plot rehash. It becomes unoriginal and boring with too much repetition.
