Thanks again.
It's been a while since I've read any of Aaron Allston's books, though I did recently get to see his Clone Wars shorts. I didn't realize until now that I really missed the guy. After
Star by Star
, he takes the NJO in a different, lighter, more pulpy direction. It feels much like the high adventure of the original movie and I loved it. With these books, Mr. Allston shows that he can write not only his original characters well, but our established heroes as well. It's refreshing, it's fun, and though this book does feel quite a bit like setup for the next (but what first part of a series doesn't?) it's still a good deal enjoyable with pulse-racing action, humor, and romance. And as the site's review notes, it's great that he doesn't tell us all about what's to come. I wondered what the "YV getting to fight the Empire" would entail and getting to see what our former Rogues meant by that was one of the book's many highlights.
Great book from start to finish. 9/10
P.S. It's nice to finally reach the book from which my avatar originates.
