RE: Confused About the Most Powerful Jedi

I like looking at straight facts to gather my answer for the most powerful Jedi. Yes it is all opinion, however, mainly common sense. Obi-Wan Beats Maul, Greivous, Jango Fett and survives the Jedi Purge. It is not clear if only he and Yoda were the only survivors. Obi-Wan is definitely more powerful than Vader, he had him crawling on the ground, but in ROTS Yoda says he must face Sidious because Sidious is too powerful for Obi Wan. Thus making Yoda more powerful than Obi-Wan.
Yoda could not finish off Sidious whereas Mace Windu had him begging for mercy after he already finished off Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, and Sassee Tiin. I believe Sidious was faking a little to get Anakin to save him, however, Mace had him crawling before Anakin arrived. Mace died when Anakin backstabbed him. Yoda and Sidious kept on beating each other up but Yoda did end up fleeing. Thus making Mace more powerful than Yoda.
Luke killed Anakin which made him more powerful than Anakin. But Since Mace basically could have finished Sidious off, and Sidious would have killed Luke if Anakin hadn’t saved him, doesn’t make Luke more Powerful than Mace. I feel the ranking should be Mace Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Anakin. All the ancient Jedi’s can fit somewhere in there but they are basically all opinion since we don’t know much about them.

Anakin is the most powerful jedi, his loss to Kenobi had nothing to do with power,--- Look at what he did to Dooku and you know how powerful Dooku is, and look at what Dooku did to Kenobi.

None of it is valid. All of it is completely made up.

This was because both of his arms are mechanical, this is explained in the ROTS Visual Dictionary.

Would have been great to see him shock Kenobi out of rage on Mustaphar as he was being burnt.
Ah well.. guess not.
I'm sure he would have been capable in a few months had he not been burnt to a crisp.

Why do you have to have hands to use Lightning? Why couldn't he of just launched it out of his stub?

Well then there's also all those pesky life support systems that would need to remain completely unelectrified. If Vader's lightning was deflected back at him then he'd be in trouble.

Luke can't be the most or even close to being one of the most powerful Jedi because he is so inexperienced. Limited fighting knowlege, wisdom, force knowlege etc. As for potential I read somewhere that his midichlorian count is about 14,700 (same as Leia), anakin is ca. 27,000, Palps ca. 20,000, Yoda ca. 17,000, average Jedi 7,000, Padme 4,000 or something like that.
Now other factors aply, like training, knowledge, discipline etc.
Based on all that I think the list goes:
1. Anakin
2. Yoda/Palps
3. Mace/Obi-Wan
4. Luke
5. Darth Maul

ok u guys i believe that mace is the strongest jedi becoz if it wasnt for anakin he would have destroyed the strongest dark lord in jedi history, and even when it was only sidious and yoda, he still wasnt able to defeat sidious
considering the fact that strength isent only based on physical and lightsabre skill, according to wisdom and intelligence wise, i think that master yoda would be the strongest in that catogory, strength is based on many different things, and there is one strong jedi for each one

The ROTS novel says that Yoda was the greatest of all the jedi when he was about to
duel with Sidious.

In the ROTS movie, Yoda gave Sidious a run for his money. He may have lost but he lived. Mace on the other end fought very good and had him on his grasp.....but......he lost.....and the consequnce for that was that he died. Much like the Seattle vs. NY Ginats game. Yeah, the Giants had the game within there grasp...three late field goal tries......all misses, and the consequence....they lost the game. Close calls are not good enough. You either do it, or you don't.

RE: Confused About the Most Powerful Jedi

Either Luke or Anakin had the most Force potential. It's not really fair to compare different Jedi at points in their lives; (Luke, as example) was a Padawan for all of the SW trilogy, and was up against a Sith Lord that even Yoda (mind you--Yoda, the Jedi Master) could not overthrow. A little unfair there to criticize him for not being able to take him on.
My list for raw potential:
1) Anakin/Luke Skywalker (either a tie, or Luke a little less)
2) Yoda (Sidious would either be tied here, or a close second to Yoda)
3) Leia Organa
4) Mace Windu
5) Obi-wan Kenobi
Other factors get in the way of this: Anakin's injuries make him less than Palpatine, Yoda's age, Luke's youth, Leia not being trained at all (etc).
In the EU, Luke is the most powerful Jedi; he has all the other Jedi on experience, and Force knoweledge to boot. If he were put in the old order, however, there would be so much history and philosophy Luke (and the rest of the NJO) would learn.
If Luke had been in the old order or Anakin didn't fall to the dark-side and become disfigured, then both probably would have eventually surpassed Yoda.
Thanks to his Daddy, Luke never had the opportunity. He had to basically learn for himself 99% of the time. Another point to his abilities. All the other Jedi, including Obi-wan and Anakin, always had their master there to aid their decisions, their perspectives, and their learning of the Force. Luke didn't have that, and STILL managed to become a Jedi Knight at the age of 22--after only a few years of self-training and a little from Yoda.
Give the boy a cookie.
