Obi-Wan owned Anakin who destoryed the Sith. Obi-wan is the most powerful Jedi. Yoda did not beat Dooku or Sidious.

You can't say really who's the most powerful Jedi, because most of them are powerful in some way or another.
Anakin has a LOT of raw potential
Mace is very Adept in Vaapad
Yoda's wisdom is unmatched, and his attunment to the Force is astounding
I could go on and on...

By those standards, Vader owned Obi-Wan. Gotta agree with DarthBane ...

But I would add that Yoda has the best lightsaber skills, just ask Obi-Wan (hey, he didn't say Master Windu, did he?)
OBI-WAN: If you'd spend as much time working on your saber skills as you do on your wit, young Padawan, you would rival Master Yoda as a swordsman. (AotC)
I put Mace on Yoda's level and he's good at ending a fight quickly, finding the shatterpoint super quick.

What standards? Obi-Wan beat Vader and practically left him for dead. In ANH, Obi-Wan let him win so he could become a force ghost. He didn't get "beat" by Vader.

True, true. But if it's not Yoda, Mace, or Sidious, then it's not a discussion about the most powerful jedi. Vader and Obi-Wan just can't be #1 in my books.

Ok.
In the movies, it's pretty much self-explanatory:
"I forsee you becoming the greatest of all the Jedi, Anakin. Even more powerful than Yoda." Palpatine in Ep. 2
Yoda is the benchmark of power in the Jedi. He is the most powerful Jedi.
"Obi-Wan is as wise as Master Yoda and as poweful as Master Windu."
Anakin in Ep. 2
That makes Obi-Wan and Mace the same level.
"To fight this Lord Sidious, strong enough, you are not."
Yoda in Ep. 3
Yoda is definitely above Obi-Wan and Mace.
Anakin potentially could have been more powerful but never realized his full potential by becoming mechanical.
So i'll put them in this power classes:
1st Class: Sidious and Yoda
2nd Class: Vader(Pre-Mechanical) and Tyranus
3rd Class: Mace and Obi-Wan
4th Class: Maul and Qui-Gonn
5th Class: Luke but could have been the most powerful like Anakin after ROTJ
And yes. Palpatine was faking against Mace. That whole duel was a set-up to finally turn Anakin to the Darkside and to have a valid reason to the Senate to purge the whole Jedi Order and to be an Empire.
People tend to forget that Anakin turned down Palpatine's offer and reported him to the Jedi. And before that duel. Palpatine never had a reason to purge the Jedi Order nor to create an Empire even though he had the power to execute Order 66 anytime he wanted.
And as for the people who said that Vader beat the Emperor at the end is not true. Vader sacrificed himself to kill The Emperor. That's a big difference. Vader feared Sidious all throughout Eps. 4-6.

I'm lovin' it! I would add that, Palpatine allowed Anakin to fire up his saber behind his back, a definite show of ultimate trust in Anakin.

I'm new at Star Wars knowledge, but from what I gather from the movies, Sidious' power varied greatly with who his apprentice was. During his battle with Mace, he did not have an apprentice, and Mace owned him. He didn't turn the tables until Anikin showed favoritism toward him. During his battle with Yoda, he completely had Anakin.

jpgfjedi, I don't think it has anything to do with who his apprentice is at the time. He is powerful with or without an apprentice.
And Mace did not "own" him. Sidious let him win.
I am going with this list as the most powerful Jedi (from movies):
1.) Yoda
2.) Luke
3.) Mace

Are we talking most powerful Force wielder, or most dominant Swordsman?
Because either way, it's Luke Skywalker.
Mace Windu had his special wallet made up with Luke in mind; come on, you know what I'm talkin 'bout.

This whole debate is quite pointless actually.
You can't say: A beat B and B beat C so A must be more powerful than C. It doesn't work that way. It doesn't work like that in sports either. To determine who's the better duellist, you'd need to have them all fight a multitude of duels in different environments and under different circumstances, then see who wins the most.
But anyway, as far as 'using the Force' goes, Yoda is the most powerful Jedi. I think that much is clear.
And honestly, It doesn't look to me like Palpatine let Mace win. I seriously think Mace got him. I remember Lucas saying that Mace actually won. I don't have a source though.

Not to take this thread off-track or anything, but I think it is fairly obvious that he did. For one, the whole thing that Palpatine was using to turn Anakin against the Jedi was that they were going to overthrow him and try to take over the Republic. He did not lose until Anakin was in Palpatines office; there is no doubt that Palpatine felt him coming. What Anakin immediately saw was one of the highest respected people amongst the Jedi standing over Palpatine with a lightsaber to his face, which certainly looks like an assassination attempt.
