I know but then where is Bacara? He should be listed in the episode guide. Gree is Luminara's Commander and Barriss can't have have a commander because she isn't a knight anymore. If Jet isn't Ki's Commander, then where did this guy come from?

Barris is in it and she's not listed. And Cody was in Children of the Force and also not listed. So...relax.

I dont think Bariss is in this episode, shes probably in the next episode or even the following one. (the geonosis arc is probably a trilogy).

She's most likely in the following episode to rescue Luminara whos been kidnapped by Poggle the Lesser. (as seen in the season 2 trailer) In the clip shown of Bariss, it shows her sneakinng into a hive like building, again most likely to rescue Luminara.

Also, In the episode 9 decoded episode, Bariss offee is mentioned to be "on Geonosis".

I couldn't agree more. But I would definitely not put this past them... worried

If they make Barriss a fool to make Ahsoka look better, than my hate for the little snot will grow tenfold.

Unfortunately Ahsoka is in all likely hood going to show up Barriss, however this has little to do with Ahsoka relapsing in to Suedom, affter her condition having been in remition for the first episodes of the season. It's beacuse a pirticularly nasty Trope is in effect. And as an anime fan I can tetify to the fact that this Trope is cross-cultural. And is all to common in modern fiction.

When ever these two characters are in conflict; Character-A is free-spirited and friendly, dynamic and most importantly defiant of authority. Character-B is stoic and introverted, restrained and most importantly respectful and dutiful towards authority.

Character-A will ultimately comes out on top, often converting Character-B towards there way of thinking.

Heh. Now I'm envisioning Ahsoka as a tsundere and Barriss as a nadeshiko (God, I hope not).

Yeah, don't get me started on Ahsoka's Suedom that's rivaled only by Mara Jade and Starkiller. I knew the character was a lost cause when I learned that she was found by Plo-Koon... who just so happens to be the Show Director's/Dave Filoni's all time favorite character. If that doesn't tingle your Sue Senses, I don't know what will.

worried (Yes, that crack is about Ahsoka, not Plo Koon in and of himself. tongue )
Those are some valid points about it, but I still think it'll be a ways to go before we can decide whether she's a Sue or not...and although things ARE pointing towards Sue-dom, I don't think Ahsoka would be in the same class as Starkiller and Mara Jade. Recently, even if she still tends to save the day, the show developers are actually having her lose some battles and make mistakes.

The padawan debate, I note, isn't really about who gets to save the day, but whose philosophy prevails. For all we know, Ahsoka learns something from Barriss and uses that to save the day. Granted, mixing the words 'Ahsoka' and 'saves the day' is a catalyst of sort in anti-Ahsoka fans, but I can appreciate the thought behind it. tongue

I personally choose to view her being found by Plo Koon as an expanding of his character to show he's potentially compassionate. Then again, you can do that with the clones. Then again, the bond did lead to his awesomeness in the Malevolence arc. Then again, you could easily say that's a plot device. In any case, I still love Plo Koon, but that's not the issue. tongue

(Following is a lengthy bit of perspective. Proceed with caution!)
In the interest of fairness (well, fairness as I define it tongue ), though, I'd like to bring up another character who could potentially take a turn into Suedom...Cad Bane (please don't kill me, Cad Bane fans praying )? Here's how I figure it...
-He's WAY more skilled than your average bounty hunter. I mean WAY, WAY, WAY more skilled. Like 'stick-him-in-a-fighting-game-beside-DEMIGODS' skilled. If they keep this up and ADD to his achievements, I'll start to think he LET Jango have the 'best bounty hunter' reputation. (Demigods is an overboard example, but you get my point tongue )
-He technically flirts with the main character's love interest. blush
-Karma has only caught up to him ONCE. It's caught up with Ahsoka three times. Your mileage may vary, though.
-He's so epic he needs THREE Jedi of Master level doing a mind trick...and I'm assuming he's still well enough to return as an antagonist, so he gets out of it without any permanent brain damage. tongue
-Dark colours, many of which are coincidentally next-gen-brown? Check. Awesome hat? Check. Dual wielding guns? Check. JET BOOTS? Check. It's like he shopped at a store dedicated to making things BAD ASS. tongue
-"Oh, that's just some Jedi I killed for the mission."

Now, I'd like to make clear that I absolutely love how awesome Cad Bane is. It's an awesome addition to the show, adds to the roster, and shows the Jedi CAN lose their battles. However, I do believe that he has parts of his character that can be seen as Stu material. Pointing them out won't necessarily change how people look at a character, but one person's awesome enjoyment is another's wall banging frustration. As a wise Jedi once said, "you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." wink
(Ahsoka? Young girl who's learning, her earnest optimism a stark contrast to the darkness of war! Starkiller? The ultimate anguish, forced to choose between darkness and light with the fate of the galaxy in his hands! Cad Bane? Magnificent villain who shows the Jedi what for! Mara Jade? ......well, at least she DIED. laugh )

What makes or doesn't make a Sue can be present in just about anything, but in the end, it all comes down to how much you enjoy the character. wink peace

Koonfan: Heh. No, that was actually a point I wanted to use to point out the favortism in Ahsoka's direction. And you're absolutely right about Bane. (This coming from a huge Bane fan too)

Granted, I think that would dovetail into a lengthy debate about what 'Mary Sue/Marty Stu/Suedom in General' used to mean as opposed to what it means today (because I can tell you, it's taken on a whole new meaning), not to mention about Starkiller and Mara, but that would be way too OT for this forum.

Though I guess in the case of Ahsoka, the TV Trope 'The Wesley' would be a better description. tongue

I agree with most of your points, koonfan...and I'm a huge Bane fan! tongue I'm just worried that it will be another 'I saved the day again and I know it' Ahsoka thing and Barriss gets cast to the side or perhaps not recognized for her efforts at all.

I would like to see a scenario where they both truly need to work together; Ahsoka utilizing Barriss' ideas and vice versa...I'd hate to see one's personality completely overshadow the other's. Anyway, I can't wait until Friday so I'm watching this episode on Wednesday! tongue dancing

Not sure I agree with all those points about Bane. The Jedi have already been made weaker in this series before he came along. I think a 'Su' villain can be a lot more acceptable than a 'Su' good guy because it means more of a challenge for the heroes. Sure he's formidable, but he hasn't won over everyone all the time. Bane's been hurt, got beat twice, was taken prisoner and 'mind-tortured'.. all in three episodes since his introduction. He's still new. Ahsoka on the other hand.. ehh, well that's another topic.

As for Bariss and Ahsoka, I'm for the correct/polite kid showing up the spunky/smart-aleck one for a change, but they'll probably end up either disliking eachother and becoming rivals, or learning to respect eachother's differences and work as a team.. which will likely be ignored after the episode is over. Then they'll be back to their old selves as if they gained nothing. I think it's more about teaching a moral to the audience than shaping the characters.. But who knows, maybe I'll be wrong about that.

It would be beyond nice if they did learn from and change each other. I hold out little hope - but I hold out some hope.

New Fan Days III video

I actually found this rather hilarious... I've always been one of Dave's harsher critiques because of his wishy-washy stance about some things, but I didn't realize he could be such a stand-up comic. And Baker (Rex) and Futterman (Asajj) were particularly amusing on stage.

It was also nice to learn Doctor Droid's fate... one of the better villains of Season 1, IMO.

EDIT: It's in three parts, FYI...
