So... episode 206's preview...

Didn't it kinda show exactly what some of us were a little uneasy about earlier? Ahsoka back to her usual "I'm right about everything in the end" self?

I mean, I kinda have to get a little defensive here, since Barriss has been one of my favorite characters for years and... well... yeah, I'm not too happy about this.
sad

On that note, episode 205 was epically awesome, so I'll let it slide. For now.

I liked how Bariss made a sort of bow/curtsey in the clip. And then we see Ahsoka rolling her eyes like 'This is lame. Do I have to work with her?' But judging from the preview I'd say Bariss is definitely going to be portrayed as a 'teacher's pet' Padawan who's going to be proven wrong. So Ahsoka is the 'cool kid' and Bariss is the 'prude'. Great.. But we probably shouldn't assume too much just based on the clip.

..I wonder what would happen if they teamed up Ahsoka with Shaak Ti?.. worried

So yeah, I'd like to say a big thank you to Mek and Ludo, major Bane fans, for their generous views on my Bane analysis. Again, Cad Bane is AWESOME and has benefited a lot from both Corey Burton's mad skillz and the developing skills of the Clone Wars crew. I'm sure they'll only refine the depictions as we go on. grin
Likewise, I can see where XCell's coming from and there IS a good point that powerful antagonists are more acceptable than powerful protagonists. As I said, your mileage may vary on whether a character actually fails or not. tongue

Blasted local networks...I'll probably get season 2 airing here when season 3 arrives. Oh well, there's always video streaming sites. tongue

Well, here's hoping Ahsoka learns at least something from Barriss, otherwise I'm going to lose a bunch of respect for the writers/producers.

We all know Barriss will learn something from Ahsoka, but it's got to be a two-way street. Or, the crew is basically telling us that the Jedi principles of traditions, staying calm and respecting your elders are useless.

Because that's the message we want to be giving kids? whistling

Well, to my understanding, for a long time, a bunch of EU material (with the possible exceptions of some comics and the KotOR series) has attempted to say that the Jedi ways are infallible simply because their dudes are awesome and that if you disagree with them, there's something wrong with you. Maybe they're trying to invert that idea. tongue

Well I think Lucas himself made the Jedi very fallible in the PT, so I don't have any particular problem with criticizing the Jedi Order in general.

Gods, if that happens, it will sort of be like the Felucia scene from HH plain ...it seems to me that they're trying to make Ahsoka be more and more arrogant as a way to show how dark she's becoming(since I'm gathering that's the direction they want her character to go; sort of follow in Anakin's footsteps). I hope not, and as Garth said, it sends a bad message. I don't know, I'll truly reserve my judgement until I watch it, but I'm hoping that they both take something from the experience: Ahsoka may learn a little respect and Barriss may learn to improvise more(if she's what some consider a by the book padawan).

After that last episode... I think I'm finally in love with season 2. The way season 2 started was an absolute disaster but now: "This is where the fun begins!" or began!
Kit wasn't in Point Rain so it looks like my view of season 2 has changed already, hasn't it Koonfan? raised_brow

The preview that showed Barriss made me realize that I totally over reacted about her "change". It is an epic fail that they sort of ruined the continuity of the character but I guess I like that they made her into someone that can act as Ahsoka's parallel. I will have to see the character more in action though...

The IGN reviewer mentioned he was fortunate enough to have seen all 4 episodes in this arc and they range from "very good to great", with it seeming like TCW is really hitting its stride. applause

Not sure I agree with all those points about Bane. The Jedi have already been made weaker in this series before he came along. I think a 'Su' villain can be a lot more acceptable than a 'Su' good guy because it means more of a challenge for the heroes. Sure he's formidable, but he hasn't won over everyone all the time. Bane's been hurt, got beat twice, was taken prisoner and 'mind-tortured'.. all in three episodes since his introduction. He's still new. Ahsoka on the other hand.. ehh, well that's another topic.

As for Bariss and Ahsoka, I'm for the correct/polite kid showing up the spunky/smart-aleck one for a change, but they'll probably end up either disliking eachother and becoming rivals, or learning to respect eachother's differences and work as a team.. which will likely be ignored after the episode is over. Then they'll be back to their old selves as if they gained nothing. I think it's more about teaching a moral to the audience than shaping the characters.. But who knows, maybe I'll be wrong about that.

As a lifelong Luke Skywalker fan, I'd get your back on your Ahsoka/Barriss point, if you'd agree that the same should apply to Han and Luke. But as you well know, even after ROTJ, most fans prefer the authority questioning Han to nice guy Luke.

Humans are notoriously hard to please, even if you give them what they like. I was simply bringing up Kit Fisto as a joking suggestion, in a less vicious manner than, oh, saying 'what if they made the Care Bears alcoholics and drug addicts on the path to redemption, would you watch them then?' to someone who's into Darker and Edgier stuff. The difference would be that your taste is for action with good characters on the side that Star Wars can and SHOULD deliver. laugh

Whatever the case, I'm glad you're enjoying it! grin
Bear in mind, though, while I'm sure the episodes are going to improve in quality, there's no guarantee about style. wink

Now if I could only just get my hands on an episode...

The source is Cartoon Network's online schedule. But it apparently won't be the last episode of the Geonosis arc, since it will air following the next episode, Weapons Factory (god I hate this title). So the last episode of this quadrology should be the rumoured Attack on Point Rain. So:

Senate Spy (intro)
Landing at Point Rain
Weapons Factory
Legacy of Terror
Attack on Point Rain
