I really doubt people will "hate" them (George/ LucasFilm) for a theatrical release. There's plenty of crap that makes it to theaters that should have never been made and this series is almost certainly going to be good. Of course, George is blamed for everything George W Bush isn't, so it would come as no surprise.

Below you'll find the only time, ever, that Lucas and Bush are allowed to be mentioned concurrently:

-----

ALEX TREBEK: "Welcome back to Jeopardy, now time for round two: Double Jeopardy, where the stakes are doubled!

"First category: 'Homonym People.' These are people that have absolutely nothing at all in common except for their first names.

CONTESTANT #1: "Alex, I'll take Homonym People for $200."

ALEX TREBEK: "And the answer is: 'This creator of Star Wars is a creative, engaging, self-made multi-billionaire and is the diametric opposite of this goblin-look-alike, silver spoon, neocon puppet."

BING! [Contestant #3 calls for it.]

CONTESTANT #3: "Who are George Lucas and George W. Bush!"

ALEX TREBEK: "Correct! And you continue to sweep the boards!"

-----

Again....this is the lone time when Lucas and Bush can ever be mentioned in the same sentence for as long as matter exists in the universe. Deal?

AICN has a couple of Kryat-Dragon sized stills.

Man, that first one is just so wonderfully EPIC.

The absolute best bits of Episode III were the way-too-brief shots we got of the Clone Wars happening throughout the galaxy. The promise of more just makes me so giddy.

You do realize that (unless they follow suit with the live action series) this may be the last 'new' Star Wars feature you ever see in the theater right? It's an EVENT. It's something to anticipate and pick apart and have fun with. It wont be long before it's all old news, and I for one, am going to take it in with as much enthusiasm as I have for the other releases. The prequels had their shortcomings, as the new series will, too-but that's a big reason we're here, right? If there weren't continuity issues and questionable plot points, etc. it wouldn't be much fun to debate and discuss this franchise we all love.

For me, it kind of comes down to this:

-We're getting new SW stories. This is good.

-Said stories are going to be in an ongoing, serialized format. This is also good and in a way holds true to the original SW concept.

-Takes place in the canon/non-canon "gray area". It's fully endorsed by Lucas and co., but not a "true" Star Wars "Skywalker saga" episode. This means you can take it as you like it. It's meant to fit into the canon as Lucas "envisions" it (and you can read as much into that statement as you want) and you can accept it as such, or you can just straight ignore/disavow all knowledge of it, as many "purists" out there already have the prequels.

I guess thats my 2 cents. If you don't like the new toons, why the hell do you feel the need to take time to complain about it? Just let it go and look the other way...

I'm wondering, since we've heard rumors that the first few episodes entail Anakin & Obi-Wan rescuing Jabba's son, if all the Tatooine shots from the webdoc are from the "movie" or first 3 episodes.

Can't imagine why else they'd be on Tatooine.

If it's a success, I wonder if they'll consider doing this for each new season... and the live-action series...

This could have a huge impact on the industry and how TV shows are marketed. Shows with a cinematic feel like "Lost" and "Heroes" could start doing this for premieres and finales.

It could be huge.

New Star Wars Series: Five Burning Questions Answered!
by Rich Sands

The news that George Lucas has decided to go back to the Star Wars well not once but two more times — in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an animated film (in theaters Aug. 15), and in a new animated series of the same name debuting this fall on the Cartoon Network — sent the Force-a-verse into a tailspin. We had some burning questions about these new Clone Wars-set stories, and we knew you would, too. So we went straight to the powers-that-be for some answers. (Don't worry, so far it appears to be a Jar Jar-free zone.)

What exactly are the Clone Wars?
First alluded to in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, the Clone Wars are a conflict between the Galactic Republic, led by the Jedi Knights and their clone army, and the nefarious separatist movement of Chancellor Palpatine (who later becomes the emperor). Not previously seen in any of the saga's six films, the Clone Wars take place between the events of 2002's Episode II and 2005's Episode III. "I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," says Lucas, who is executive-producing this project. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward."

So it's both a movie and a TV series?
Yes. "The movie is an original full-length story that brings this new look and new energy to the Star Wars galaxy," according to Lucasfilm spokesman John Singh. "It has a full and self-contained story." Then, in the fall, Cartoon Network will begin airing 30-minute episodes that continue the saga. At a still-to-be-determined point after that, TNT will reair the episodes. "It is serialized, but Lucas did it in such a way that they also can stand on their own," says Turner animation president Stuart Snyder. More than 30 episodes have already been produced, and the show will be broken down into 22-episode seasons. Snyder says "a multiseasonal agreement" is in place. Both the movie and the TV show will utilize 3-D computer-generated animation from Lucasfilm.

Wait, wasn't there already a Cartoon Network series about the Clone Wars?
Yep. In 2003, Star Wars: Clone Wars premiered on Cartoon Network. Produced by Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, the 25-part, traditionally 2-D animated "micro series" of five- to 12-minute episodes concluded just prior to Episode III's theatrical release and won the 2005 Emmy for outstanding animated program. The new version won't supersede the events and continuity of that show, but will instead delve more deeply into the story of the Clone Wars.

Which Star Wars characters show up in The Clone Wars?
Anakin Skywalker (the future Darth Vader), Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala are front and center, leading the Republic's army. The separatist movement — which will become the evil Galactic Empire of the original movie trilogy — is led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous, the creepy, Jedi-hunting alien-robot hybrid introduced in the original cartoon and Episode III. New characters will include Anakin's Padawan apprentice Ahsoka, a teenage female Togruta, which is a race of red-skinned, horned aliens. Singh promises that Ahsoka's role will be "really important."

Is this a show for kids? Adults? Both?
While Lucas had previously said this wouldn't be "kiddie stuff," Turner's Snyder emphasizes that "this show is for everyone." Adds Singh, "Being an animated project there is perhaps an even greater appeal to a younger audience than the movies had."

Good to know there's a multi-seasonal agreement in place.

When I first heard about this (a couple of years ago), I was thinking, "meh".
But...the stuff I've seen recently has given me quite the woody for it.

I'll definitely be in the theaters on Aug 15th...and in front of the TV screen later that Fall. happy

Raxus Prime is considered iconic? wink Well, I did enjoy those video game levels, and that Boba Fett kid book tied into it was decent - heck, I'm always up for CW game references, hehe!

Personally I like the idea of more Clone Wars stories. I like the idea of seeing more General Grievous, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Clone commanders, Obi-Wan, and even Anakin. I've noticed a lot of gripes about the series covering this time period. Mainly wondering what's the point since we already know Anakin becomes Vader. (That, or complaining that the cartoon looks too much like a cartoon...o_O) I don't know, to me that's like asking what's the point of seeing more Vader since we know he becomes Anakin again? Anyway, I felt the PT introduced a lot of great characters and ideas, and we didn't get to see too much of them. So bring on more stories, I say. Sheesh, a lot people make you feel bad for being a fan these days. Though in retrospect it was like that even before the PT.

If this is popular maybe it may inspire Lucas to expand other parts of Star Wars. Wouldn't a series that took place between ANH and ESB be interesting? That's three years of events to cover right there.
