On the Asaj and Obi-Wan clip there was hardly any facial animation on Obi-Wan.

I think what might hurt The Clone Wars (and what hurt the PT) is that Lucas & Co. aren't sure how "adult" or "child-oriented" Star Wars is or should be anymore.
Kids still like ANH, ESB and ROTS, despite that they're the darkest of the Saga. They get it. Stuff doesn't have to be dumbed down, and of course Star Wars is never an R-rated show, nor should it be.
I agree that SW has an issue when dealing with how mature it should be. In the span of three movies we are treated to watching a man catch on fire to a farting ostrich creature and stepping in poodoo . But I wanted to point out that I do not think that kids necessarily like ESB, RotS or the mature SW themes. I am not sure where you are getting that opinion from. When I was a kid TESB was actually my least favorite film of the OT, and RotJ was my favorite (hmmm ewoks). Now that I'm older of course ESB is the best and RotJ collects a lot of dust. I wonder if others find that to be true. I think it really is hard to make a compelling story that adults and kids can like and minimize the "cringe" worthy gags or topics for either audience. Some movies do it very well like ANH or Finding Nemo, others miss the mark like TPM and even RotS imo on the other end of the spectrum.

I had this exact type of conversation with my girlfriend recently.
Me: Sure some of the jokes are juvenile, but George makes these movies for kids and to some extent, the kid in all of us.
Her:What kind of a kids movie includes so many decapitations, amputations, shootings, stabbings, and the complete immolation of a man who choked out his wife?

Garth posted: As far as zombie's registration date and post count, I would be lying if it didn't make a difference to me. He's been registered 3 years longer than I have (though I lurked for a long time), and so he's been around the JC fora for 9 years.
His opinion is no better than someone with a reg date of last week. I guess I just don't get it. I shall leave it at that.
Zombie posted: But every time something is released about this series, its awful; the look is awful; the storyline is awful; the details of the plot are awful; the dialog--what little there is--is awful; the action even looks awful based on the wealth of action scenes already released.
Come on, how can you say it looks awful? Am I alone in thinking it looks great. Like I said, it may not be great compared to Wall-E, but that is a one time thing (maybe). The Clone Wars is a TV show and it looks pretty darn good for a TV show. I am not a cartoon expert, but I haven't seen many cartoons, if any, that look that good.
I have said it 100 times, I am also 100% guilty of being a Star Wars consumer. If it is in any way like a movie or TV show and Star Wars is on it, I will definitely check it out.

Actually, I was the exact same way. The order of the trilogy for me was: RotJ, ESB, ANH. I thought RotJ was the most action packed (I still hated the ewoks). ESB was cool because of the sweet lightsaber duel at the end, and ANH was the most boring. Now, I rank ESB the highest. ANH still is #3 only because Palpatine is in RotJ a lot.
And the maturity issue, that definitely ruined some of Star Wars for me, definitely RotS.

when I was talking about zombie, I meant he understood the rules about bashing in the JC very well because he's been here for so long. I don't mean his opinion has any greater inherent value.
Mine obviously does though.

There was little to no juvenile jokes in the OT at all whatsoever until RotJ. And coincidentally, that's about the time George's role as a father of little kids went into hyperdrive. And that's precisely why there was literally crap on the ground in Mos Espa and farting Eopies. Heck, that's why there were Ewoks and Jar-Jar. I truly believe that.

Do they have pre-release or audience-test screeners for films like this?
I'm kinda surprised we haven't heard anything from AICN on this.

I can take the two main potty humor jokes of TPM in stride, as they are but small moments that (for me) don't hinder the overall theme of lurking corruption that will soon topple galactic society. On the other hand, I love that the "grittier" portrayal of daily life on Tatooine in ANH had no room for the immature stuff, yet the light-hearted adventure spirit that dominates the latter half of that film ensures it's not what I consider the crowning entry of series. Overall, though, I think this seeming clash of styles works in making the six films fun, oftentimes zany adventures that still begin to explore deeper themes.
As for the Clone Wars series and its place in all this, I'm not that excited about it, as from what I've seen of it so far the show mainly looks like a vehicle for action sequences. I can attest that my six year old cousin is salivating over the prospect of seeing the theatrical release, though, and as such I can't say I have a problem with the show's style (or assumed style, I should say, given it hasn't been released yet). If the show introduces young viewers or helps maintain their interest in the films, then there's a chance they might go from there and follow a similar path that I did and eventually use Star Wars as a bridge to other, more adult-oriented genre classics like Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Unforgiven, etc. That's a very good thing, imo. But then again, ANH ensured that FX-driven swashbuckling has always been a major Star Wars trait, so I fully understand why any fan regardless of age might choose to embrace the Clone Wars series primarily because of this aspect.

What looks to be a significant lack of character development has me more worried than anything, especially on the Anakin/Obi-Wan as brothers front . I didn't read all of the plot spoilers - only skimmed, and now I'm a little nervous. Half excited, half "meh". Don't get me wrong, I love action sequences, but I also cannot stand movies with no substance to them. We shall see. Maybe the novel will change my mind.

It's going to be hard, because obviously this is a theatrical release, and they're going to want to get everyone (i.e. the kids) excited about the television show.
They've been pretty up front about how they want to develop the characters, which is one reason I was initially attracted to the show.
I'm honestly going to watch all of the first season, I'm sure. At that point, I'll assess how they've done overall, and whether it will be worth continuing. I think we need to give them a chance to show their skillz.

The Anakin Obi Wan brotherhood could be more featured in the series, seeing as of right now, they have unlimited season possibilities.
Does anyone else find it contradicting that they have this video out, talking about how the clones are gaining individuality, yet there all still voiced by one guy? I mean, sure clones would sound alike but they could alter their voices and just speak in different monotones. You think some will actually have different sounding voices, or are we expecting every single trooper's voice to be a carbon copy of Rex's?

Well, I think that's more of a physical/genetic thing, whereas thinking like individuals is not. So, I would think that the fact that they sound alike is believable.

I dont expect them to have different sounding voices... in fact, since they're clones i would find it strange if their voices sounded different. I think it's more believable to have them gain individuality in how they act and present themselves.

I like the fact the clones are becoming more like individuals. Like Anakin, we're seeing the complete evolution of a character. So when we see Vader in the OT, we're a bit more conflicted and even sympathetic. Same with the stormtroopers. They're not faceless, nameless clones. They didn't ask to be created. But they did have souls and bonded with the Jedi whom, years later, would be extinguished from the universe.

Well, by the time ANH comes around, won't most of those clones be too old to be the storm troopers? Because that'd be like aging another 40 years.
