I know ya'll will start throwing Ewok spears at me for this...but "IMO" is a powerfull ally !
Although I have all the faith in the world in GL (I'll defend his decisions until I die), I just don't have a good feeling about this new series.
To me it seems that live-action Star Wars belongs on the BIG-screen. Having it on TV seems to diminish it. It kind of falls into the same bunch of sci-fi shows that the Sci-fi channel runs all the time endlessly.
I think the best way to present this era of the SW universe is to animate it Clone Wars style. This type of presentation makes it unique, interesting, and damn fun to watch on TV.
Hopefully I'll be proven wrong...we shall see.

I also hope you are proven wrong and I think the upcoming Star Wars Live Action TV Series is going to be really good but we'll just have to wait and see.

Does it really matter? Regardless if a Star Wars movie/Tv episode is initially shown on the big screen or not, you still end up watching it on your TV via VHS or DVD for 99% of your viewings over the course of your life.

You have to remember that unless you are an old git like me, most people grew up with SW on the TV, not the cinema (until the releases in the late 90s).
SW on the TV created two generations (almost) of fans, so it really *is* the media for watching the movies.

There are some minor concerns, but remember, star wars needs to succeed in the small tube. The release and big success of the original trilogy last year, plus the release of the Star Wars Battlefront video game (Both the biggest bestsellers for LucasArts for the Playstation 2 and the X-box), the success of the clone wars cartoon series, the super success of the KOTOR video game. Yep, star wars is now in the small tube. It needs to do good in this medium. According to Jim Ward and Steven Sansweet, star wars is heading to the small tube, they stated that as good as action figures, novels, and comic books are, they will not be enough to keep star wars going.

Good point. Yes Star Wars is going to have to succeed on the small screen to stay around.

there will always be an audience for star wars, so why not bring it to the TV

apparently there wont be any jedi at all, i dont think ill be able to watch. after all, joe sixpack in the star wars galaxy is still joe sixpack. they hav their work cut out for them, its like any other new tv series, in terms of creating characters and compelling plot stuff, but they do hav some money and tech resources to help them a lot. fingers crossed.

I have concerns about the series. There can't be many Jedi around, so no force, no lightsabers, etc. Isn't Jedi one of the things that make Star Wars unique? I'm afraid its going to be a generic sci-fi series, no different from most any other, that just happens to takes place in the SW universe. But I really hope its outstanding. You don't need jedi to succeed, but it would really help.

It has not been said that the upcoming Star Wars Live Action TV Series is not going to have Jedi in it. I have a lot of ideas on stories for the TV Series. There are so many possibilities in the era inbetween ROTS and ANH.

There will probably be at least one Jedi character ta some point in the series, I'd imagine, but it won't overdo it hopefully.
And that's a good thing really- I think people have gotten Jedi'd-out from the overkill in the prequels. People would probably embrace having some "normal" heroes they can relate to again like Han, Leia, Lando, Wedge or ANH-Luke, as such characters were basicly completely absent from the latest movies.
>>they stated that as good as action figures, novels, and comic books are, they will not be enough to keep star wars going.<<
That's an odd statement by them, considering they kick-started SW and kept it running for almost half a decade before there was ever any announcement made about the Special Editions or the prequels.

Well maybe they could have a non force user human wield a lightsaber.
