IMDB can't be trusted for concrete advanced info. We've definitely been told "towards the end of the decade", and if the show was gonna hit in 2008, they'd probably have to start shooting (or at least gear up production) in the next 6 months, and I don't think there's any signs of that happening.
Keep in mind Stargate, which, while likely lower in budget than what SW will be, also deals with movie-calibre FX work, among other facets, has a third series announced to be going into active development this summer, and even that won't hit TV until early/mid 2008. And that's factoring in Stargate filming a normal "release as you shoot" Tv schedule, as opposed to what Lucas apparently wants to do with shooting "all of it at once", not to mention the various advantages the Gate franchise has (existing sets from the other 2 shows, existing crew in place, a decade of experience, the "well-oiled machine" factor, etc) over what Lucas would ahve to genrate from scratch (as I assume the majority of the prequels' set and environment models have been disposed of by now, since they were too large to keep in a practical manner).

Funny - I thought most of the prequels' sets were bluescreen. Seems to me that such a set is very easy to store - if you've got a big enough hard drive.
Aside from that, Lucas has ILM at his disposal. They're the "well-oiled machine" that all other "well-oiled machines" are based on.
If anything, the Star Wars TV series has more going for it than any other series - a huge company behind it, brand recognition, an almost rabid fanbase already, etc. It should go rather smoothly, as long as it has more of a "Holy Trilogy," as opposed to "Jar-Jar jumps the shark."

Going by that promo pic, looks like we can expect Fett to play some role in the live action series.

Hi - I'm new here - what is that promo pic from? Is that from Toyfair or something? That is the animated Yoda, right? Sweet!

I frankly did not want Fett as the main character because it's going to make his demise look even more stupid in RotJ. I would've preferred the main character be a Jedi gone mercenary who helps the rebels and fights Darth Vader in the series finale and dies at Vader's hand.

Just because they are advertising with Fett dosn't mean he will be the main character
Afteral i doubt Yoda will be the main focus of the Clone Wars series, i expect Fett will play a large role in the live action, particularly as Mando's are popular right now (more or less), and he is an easy iconic character to cast (relativly, compared to some others anyway).
If they follow a regular set up for a sci fi series there will be a crew of protagonists, several important antagonists that stay alive for at least one series, and then a number of characters fitting into the middle ground who show up only now and then. I expect Fett will fall into the latter category, but its just a guess.

I hope the main story line isnt all bounty hunter. I want some Ep.III Jedi flashbacks. Thats all I need. Jedi in battle with droids then Order 66. Show a little in the Jedi Temple before/during/after the raid on it, and then the survivors can be hunted down. As long as it has flashbacks to the Jedi Temple, I will be content with the show.

^That's why I was hoping for the main character to be a jedi turned mercenary. Through the eyes of the main character, we could see some of the flashbacks. I wouldn't mind if Boba was like the Jedi character's nemesis.

I always imagined the live action series would be about a Jedi that escapes Order 66 and joins up with a group smugglers, using his/her intuition to help them escape detection while rescuing other Jedi and rebel sympathizers along the way.

Darth rotten,
That's a good idea. But, don't be too disappointed if your idea doesn't happen.
That was one of the issues with prequel haters. Everyone had thoughts about what the story would be if THEY wrote the stories. If the story didn't follow what they expected before 1997, then they didn't like it.
Your idea could work. However, Lucas may not want to introduce any more Jedi besides Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Luke?

George Lucas has NOT raped anyone's childhood. It's his story. He may not tell it the way YOU would, but it's HIS. If the direction of the prequels bothers you so badly, don't buy a ticket. Funny... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/eethit/own3dbaby

I am cool with Fett as the main character, however I do not believe this is the case.
1)We have known for some time that there was a pretty good possibility Fett would be in the series.
2)The main characters have not been cast nor costumed so you can't show them.
So there you are. What it does show me is that Boba Fett maybe featured often. I am just jazzed to see Live action series with a date beside it!!

Am I alone in thinking that he's just a 'good' writer? I mean, nothing I've seen of his is terrible at all, but... nothing I'd get all wiggly about.
