The series could potentionally be really good, meeting fan expectations or it could be a disaster focusing more on visual effects than story and characterisation. Since George has had negative feedback for Episodes 1 and 2, for over doing the visuals and not concentrating on more serious issues such as the plot. ROTS was a significant development, although visual effects were still pouring out of the screen, he seemed to find his feet again story wise. I hope he ensures that the series is suitably retrofied as he started in Episode 3, leaning more towards the down troden, gritty look of the original trilogy.
I agree. I do like the CGI, but episode's 2 and 3 had an overload of it. It was as if Lucas was using any excuse to get the blue screen out.

CGI should only be used where necessary in the TV show, and it probably will be, seeing as it is afterall only a TV show and will obviously have a smaller budget than a film.

I am tired of people saying that the Galaxy in the Original Trilogy was only gritty and old looking. This is not true. Cloud City(the one exception being the Carbonite Freezing Chamber) is far from gritty looking; it's design fits in well with Coruscant, Kamino, and other major population areas of the galaxy seen in the Prequels. It is all about what we saw on camera. There was always newer and more colorfull areas in the Star Wars Galaxy, but that wasn't what Lucas wanted to focus on in the Original Trilogy. The Original Trilogy focused on the Rebel Alliance attacking the Empire from hidden locations. The Rebels obviously didn't have the money that the Empire had, so they had to use old Starships, and old abandoned Temples for their Bases. The Prequel Trilogy focused on the Jedi Order and the Political powers of the Old Republic. Their Base of Operations was the "Bright Center of the Universe", the Capital Planet Coruscant; as well as other major Planets. 2 Trilogies, 2 viewpoints.

The TV Show on the other hand, will allow us to see the gritty and colorfull at any time. Sounds good to me.

When I heard a Star Wars TV show I thought “Man that would suck”. Now that I have thought about I’m thinking “Man that’s going to REALLY suck”. I loved the OT but with the direction the PT went I can’t help but feel let down and betrayed. Do we really what a 100 hour TV show of the same?

MAYBE a 10-12 hour min-series would be ok. I want QUALITY not QUANTITY. If GL had absolutely nothing to do with it it might be ok. I think the subject matter is known by now so writers and a director shouldn’t have a problem doing it without him.

I don’t know about you but I sure don’t like to get raped. Come on how can you say the PT compares to the OT? Regardless I just think a Star Wars TV show would be hard to do. Star Wars now is FX heavy and that has to be time consuming and expensive to do on a regular basis. If it were to works great but if it sucks it's just another black eye for SW.

Why do people feel SW needs to “go on” or something? Some of the coolest times to be a fan was in the late 80’s early 90’s when there was little to no SW stuffs available. Any item I got then I loved cuz it was hard to find. Now it’s kind of like overkill. It’s not that I’m saying I hate SW just if they do a show I hope it is well done and my confidence in them to make a to make a show true to the sprit of the OT is not what it use to be. peace

Well,

If it doesn't do well in the ratings it won't see 100 hour eps anyway.

If its good that's a bonus for us SW fans.

If it flops, it falls out of the back of my mind into the Abyss.

Nothing to loose and everything to gain IMO.

Lets face it George is getting old and he himself is never gonna do another movie, this is our best alternative to actually see something on the TV.

I'm looking forward to both of the TV series very much! I just hope the live action series will have a big budget and effects by ILM!

The only thing I have a bad feeling about (which is a little presumptuous to say at this point) is if Quinlan Vos emo's it out in the new series. Not like I really think he'll be in it... nor do I contest him being in it to begin with. But Quinlan became a little too whiney by the end of the Clone Wars for my tastes.

Well he kind of sorted those issues out towards the end, so he should be a bit more balanced now.

I agree, I have a bad feeling about this also.

Star Wars should be locked in a vault before its further hindered and loses all pride. I mean come on, it's eventually gonna happen.

I know I shouldn't be making a judgement before we know more about it, but come on, you think Lucas can afford the same graphics as the movies once a week? I think if he's gonna have another small screen Star Wars run it should be like the clone wars. That ways theres no horrible acting, the animations done well, and the storyline could be endless.

I want to see more of Vader and Luke and leia growing up, but apparently its gonna be about new characters and less plotted characters from the movies. I don't know, I think if star wars is gonna be continued then it should atleast have some Darth Vader in it so us Vader lovers wont be completely unsatisfied.

One thing I'd like to see in the TV series is the Imperial Red Guards in action, and when I say action I don't mean falling on the floor after a Yoda force-push. The guards did very little in the movies, just walking and standing, but I think that that adds to their mystery. They look so ominous in their red cloaks and helmets. Maybe we'll see something like a group of Jedi survivors storming the Emperor's palace with lightsabres and shouting "Death to Palpatine" and getting past the stormtroopers but then being taken out by the Red Guards with force pikes. That would be great! happy

Being as Shaak Ti has survived (no official confirmation of her death), I think it would be cool to see her in the miniseries. While we're at it, lets throw in some Boba Fett, in his early years taking bounties - possibly even hunting down some of our unpurged jedi.

I think the show will focus on the formation of the alliance - Perhaps characters like Ackbar, Madine and Mon Mothma (Garm Bell Iblis too?) will show up, along with rebel pilots. On the other side of the coin I'm sure the Empire will get their fare share of badness - stormtroopers killing mindless, hopefully Imperial guards showing their prowess with that force pike.

Imerial Guards are just standing, red decorations. I really doubt we'll ever see them do anything.

... Do you not think there's a deliberate link between them and the red-coated London Guard?

Is any one else exited about the recent news that the T.V. show might air on HBO? I think that is a great move for Lucas.
