Ratings for the SWHS?

When I was a kid I couldn't wait to get home and watch the Star Wars Hoilday Specail the night it airring on CBS. This was before VHS's and anything Star Wars on TV was to cool. All my friends was a buzz about it. So does anyone know how it did in the ratings? I know the show was BAD but I would think it got a lot of viewers the night in airred.

According to the Wikipedia website, it lists the SWHS as having great ratings after it was aired, if that helps you.

I agree with Darthsuggs, the Holiday Special has resulted in the death of 7 people and I've been in re-hab for 8 months because of it.
But seriously, its pretty bad dude. Except for the animated Boba Fett part, that was kinda cool.

I got a bootleg version once...the quality was so bad I watched for about a minute and deleted it...guess I could have just stabbed myself with a fork and gotten the same thing...

I saw it for the first time recently expecting it to be pretty bad, but to enjoy it for the cheesiness. Turns out it was actually quite enjoyable and interesting to see Chewie's family. The music scenes were pretty bad though. otherwise it was well worth the effort to see it.

The holiday special was a SW TV show aired in 1978(?) where stuff like Chewies family and Leia singing are among things you can expect. It's apparantly very crappy and Lucas himself has stated that it will never be released ever again and if he had the time he would destroy every bootleg copy there is. So it's best to forget it ever existed IMO.

I was the same as you. I actually just saw it over the weekend for the first time, expecting it to be God-awful. I ended up enjoying it. While definitely not on a par with the movies, or even the Clone Wars cartoons, it is good for what it is. Maybe you have to expect it to be bad to like it. Or maybe you need a couple little kids who will force you to watch it over and over and keep telling you they want a "Baby Chewbacca" for Christmas.
