If you love the SW movies you really need to own these..they are by far the best piece of SW entertainment outside the movies themselves.

Not that you're reading this three months on, but if you liked them when they aired, they're even better all cut into hour-long movies. And the commentary tracks aren't bad. I invested and I don't regret it.

You should. I have a collection of all the movie DVDs and I put my Clone Wars DVD right between Episodes 2 and 3.

Me too! It's like the link you miss between Episode 2 and 3. I suggest buying it Very entertaining and you see some less known Jedi showing their skills.

I can agree with that, but I would have liked it more if the animation style was in the manner of Animatrix's Last Flight of the Osiris. (Or do I remember its title wrong?)

vong333 posted: Buy them both. They are very good. Let me tell you, for 2 volumes, 3 seasons, 25 total chapters, and a little over two hours of cartoon animation. Let me tell you what it has done, it has won three Emmy awards, one Annie award win and one nomination (didn't win), really jacked up the ratings for the Cartoon Network on Television and on the internet, was loved by about 90% of the star wars fans, and above all. It added a chock full of adventure, excitment, and warfare that you really didn't get from the Clone War novels and short stories. It's good to have them in your collection.
Oh please.
"Adventure..heh, excitement..heh. A Jedi craves not these things."
You want to know what the Clone Wars cartoon consists of? No character development and action over plot, something that the novels thankfully avoided.

malkie edit removal of trolling comment from about
So because I prefer a set of novels that focus on plot and character development over a series of cartoons that focus on a bunch of action sequences, then I am an idiot? Maybe you haven't noticed, but it is entirely subjective. You're opinion does not count higher than everybody elses. [mild baiting] you would know that story should never be used to transition from one action sequence to the next. So what if its being continued, its probably more of the same. Last time I checked, RC:HC was listed on the timeline, so therefore, the RC novels are a part of the clone wars novels. As for the last line, nice try, but I've seen better.

I've just had the unpleasant experience of having to ban someone from SSSW - the first ban I've had to make here since I took over modding.
It's easy to respect each other's opinions and not resort to name calling or baiting.
I really won't hesitate to ban anyone else who strays away and starts trolling.

Yoda_Evil: I wanted to apologize on the public forum for baiting you and name calling. As a long time member of the boards I should know better and I served my punishment.
Now, to answer your response. What upset me was the fact that you started your reply by saying "Oh Please". When I read that, I got very upset becuase I thought that you were being sarcastic. All I was doing was replying to the individual who posted why should he buy the clone wars dvd cartoon series.
In any case, I still believe that the animation despite the characterization that you want in your stories was very good. Any Star Wars fan should have them in there collection. Not to mention that it was this very same over the top cartoon series that propelled GL to have 30 minute clone war 3-D cartoons created. It wasn't the novels that brought him to that decision. The clone war novels, according to Sue Rostoni at the Official site, stated that they did not do well and most of them were not well recieved. In fact, Shatterpoint, which I though was probably the best written of the bunch, did so poorly that Escape from Dagu was cancelled. If I can recall correctly.
I didn't like the clone war novels becuase they didn't feel like star wars. The NJO novels which some fans did not like, had way better characterization, land, space, and jedi action. I had a very hard time accepting the those combat personal defense droids that can use the force like in Cestus Deception, did not understand why in the world did they have to have the super-duper force enhancing bota in the Medstar books, the Jedi Trial book was full of nonsense action. Didn't buy too much into the Dooku vs. Yoda part deux of the Dark Rendevous book.
With the RC novels, I'm impressed, because Traviss was a better writer for the Commando clones, than the video game was for the game itself. For the record though, I am not too thrilled that we are getting two more books in the clone wars. I'd prefer something in the KOTOR era, inbetween Episode 1 and 2, or 3 and 4, or in the Galactic Civil War era.
Once again though, I apologize for making the comment.

I liked the animation and the story, Genndy did a good job IMO. I think they are worth the $30 it would cost, but that is just me.

Accepted.
On Topic: I would recommend renting them first, then deciding, since there is nothing worse than paying full price for a film and then realising that you don't like it.
