I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting tired
of the whole prequel stuff. We know now after 30 years
what happened with Anakin and Luke. I have an idea
George and Rick - How about some COMPLETELY NEW STORIES?
New characters and new stories. This would be much better
because nobody would know what is going to happen. I just
hope they will finally expand Star Wars into a new direction.

I think the new TV series will be 100% new characters and new directions.

I agree with the small caveat that I expect there will be a couple of one-off cameo's through the 100 episodes. I expect R2 and C3PO to be in there somewhere. Boba Fett will most likely pop up at some point. Maybe The Emperor or Tarkin. But these will be exceptions to the rule, I think. The series won't be anything to do with the Skywalkers or Obi-Wan or Yoda. That side of things is definatly over.

Thanks for the responses.

There will be new characters, but it will still be set before Episode 4.
The big problem is this - Just like the prequel trilogy, we know what is
going to happen! Whatever way it goes, we know that Luke will rise and
eventually destroy Vader and the Emperor.

This is just my opinion, but I would like to see a series set after
Episode 6. After seeing the jedi destroyed in Episode 3 and only one
surviving at the end of Episode 6, it would be nice to see the jedi order
rebuilt and some new enemies...maybe even new Sith? What do you think?

I know it's been mentioned. But 100 episodes, come on! What happens if the show is a complete failure after 5 episodes, does that mean there are 95 coming by hook or by crook?

Like DarthBoba said, maybe Legacy of the Force or the Legacy comics are for you.
The problem is that the novels and comics already cover the first 30 or so years after the Battle of Endor, and they're constantly expanding in that area too. So to make a TV series within that timeframe, you've either got to discard 15 years of work by many authors and artists or still know what's going to happen.
However, once you base the series around new characters, you don't know what's going to happen. The ins-and-outs of galactic civil war will be the same on the larger scale, but that doesn't necessarily mean you know how it's going to end for that particular character.

That's the dumbest complaint I have ever heard.

Look at the James Bond films, we've have like 1,000 James Bond films for the past 4 decades and whenever a new Bond film hits theaters, the fans will already know that JB survives at the end but that didn't stop them from enjoying the films. With that in mind, we shouldn't let our knowledge of what transpired in the OT stop us from enjoying the new TV show.

They might as well make films of the EU...

And why is everybody always talking about boba fett ? didn't he get eaten by a monster in EP 6 ?? And besides, after episode 6, there are still clones left in the galaxy, so thousands of "boba fetts" ( jango's ) can be made, so i don't see what's the big deal here..

Then we really would know exactly what's going to happen wink

But with the growth acceleration applied to all but Boba Fett, the oldest surviving Jango clones would be around 36 years old at the time of RotJ and appear in their 70's/80's. Not going to lead to many action sequences is it? laugh

Oh, and Boba's death is a point of contention. George Lucas has been quoted as saying that in his mind, Boba is dead; while in the Lucasfilm approved EU, he's popping up every twenty minutes or so playing Tom-&-Jerry games with Solo. tongue I'm open minded either way...

When the DVDs first came out in 04' Lucas said that he considered adding a shot of Fett escaping the Sarlacc but couldn't do it without interrupting the flow of the movie so decided not to. I think at this point, even GL concedes that Fett escaped off-screen.

IIRC, I believe all you need to do is pop in the DVD and listen to the commentary ttack.

It is a huge galaxy. I think the idea has already been confirmed many times - it's going to focus on other characters. Kind of like the Droids cartoon. One thing I liked about that show were the cameos. Hey, I was 11 at the time.

I'm Sort of am and sort of not. They need to make more about the Sith or Even better, How the jedi order was formed.

Exactly black saber.
I would like to see a series set back at the beginning. Maybe
how the jedi and sith began...
Or a series set after Return of the Jedi, showing the rebuilding
of the jedi order and some new enemies.

My real point of this thread is just that George or Rick will expand
on the stories in a direction completely away from episodes 1-6. How
much more do we need to know about this time frame in the Star Wars
universe?

Star Wars could be so so much more
