I should know, I'm a taurus and I think that way. Ever wonder why he so insistent in not making anymore movies and not letting anybody else play in his playground to make more? Ask if you doubt me, check all them interviews, and if you are one of the TFN guys that has access to interview GL, ask him that question. Will he ever allow anybody else to make star wars movies once hi is either retired or gone (dead).
I for one say "GOOD!"
For if the EU is any indication of what would await real SW if anyone else got their hands on it, it would be a cliched one-dimensional bore.
Fellas, there comes a time to say good bye. Theres a time to write the last page, turn off the light and GO HOME. Let Star Wars END! Didnt the end of Star TREK teach you anything? Where they just kept trotting out one series after another with virtually interchangable cast and stories? It went out with worse than a whimper, but with a "TOLD YOU SO!" Enough already, just end the story and get on with your life. SW deserves to have an ending that the creator gave it.

To this, to this, I boo, I hiss.
The creator IS making the show (and much of the same crew who made the prequels).
Star Wars is NOT Star Trek.
Don't watch it, but get off of my cloud, man. I'm doin' the bring-it-on shuffle for the tv shows.
See?

See?
Lucas has said he will NOT allow anyone else to do more Star Wars. Diane Sawyer asked him that flat out and he said "No." That is a direct quote.
THEREFORE, if any bozo hijacks the SW universe a decade or so after Lucas passes on, it will be some hack-eyed EU retread of a story that Lucas never wrote, never wanted, and never approved. You seemed to have jumped into the wrong conversation, for this thread is not about the TV show, its about a perceived Episode VII, so be more mindful of the name of the thread before you jump in headfirst.
That being said, I am in favor of the live action series, as there is plenty of Lucas story to fill in there. But Episode VII? No way, no how, no chance. I have met and read more than enough of what passes for "good ideas" amongst the "I WANT AN EP VII" crowd to make it perfectly obvious most of them wouldnt know a cliched super-weapon from a hole in the ground, and Lucas is smarter than any five of them put together.
Now dont be so quick to dismiss the mistakes of Star Trek, for if they are repeated here it will be for the same reason:: Untalented wannabes coming in years after the fact to beat a dead horse over and over with no innovation or any care in the world towards the core of the material, just a selfish greed to churn out show after show as long as some dumb shmoe is dumb enough to watch it. Treks last series was a ridiculed disaster for exactly that reason. Last season of X Files was a ridiculed disaster for exactly that reason. The world is full of Movies and TV shows that ruined their legacy because THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN TO QUIT.
Well Star Wars quits at EP VI. Thats the end of the line fellas, story's over. No more. Its for the the good of the show.

Good point.
Just as you should be mindful of where this thread is, this being the Small Screen Star Wars area.

True, but there's many who argue Lucas didn't know when to quit either. I'm not one of them, but if you're going to try to place a marker when someone should've stopped based on consensus, many think it was back in 1983.

Well I for one would say screw the "consensus." Since when is art made by committee? One creator, one voice, one vote. If Lucas says there was a story to tell pre-empire, then he's right and everyone who isnt the creator is wrong (and I cant imagine anyone without flaming misplaced priorities actually trying to debate that the fall of the Republic and rise of Vader wasnt worth telling. I know these boards are full of wannabe armchair quarterbacks, but I really have yet to meet anyone who said the prequels never should have even been attempted).

Better stated to the actual creator of the thread, which in case you missed it, did not happen to be me.

New characters and new stories. This would be much better
because nobody would know what is going to happen. I just
hope they will finally expand Star Wars into a new direction.

Completely agreed. Everytime i'm playing KOTOR, my friend (who's somewhat of a "casual" SW fan) who'll be watching says "They need to make THIS for the TV show!"
BTW -- your signature line is dead-on, as it has been scientifically proven that Kate Beckinsale is the hottest woman on the planet.
