Any one seen the new Citreon advert? Or that Ford advert a while back with Steve McQueen. You know what GL is like for tinkering with Technology. What about, if for arguments sake, there is an episode of the live action series set after the O.T and Lucas got permission to use Alec Guiness footage ala Marlon Brando Superman Returns and incorporate new dialogue etc. Anyone got any other ideas on where this could go?

Ouch, no. sad Out of respect for the Guinness I'd rather they didn't.
Wouldn't be the same, and if you can't do something properly you shouldn't even try. So to speak.

It's true that Lucas likes to tinker and that he also considered using old footage of Peter Cushing for ROTS, so this idea doesn't seem so farfetched.

But I hope he realised that when he failed with the Cushing footage that reusing old footage is a bad idea. Concerning Alec Guinness role in Star Wars, I think he has done enough and should be left alone.

It would be unfair - Guinness hated his SW role by the end because most people forgot all of the other work he did, and always considered him and Obi-Wan.

I've always wondered if that is really true...'cause you see, some say he hated his part and wanted Obi-Wan killed off because of that whilst others say he was pretty miffed by the last minute decision to kill Obi-Wan. I guess it is reasonable that Alec Guinness disliked the fact that he was remembered solely for his performance as Obi-Wan and not any other ones but it's sound equally unreasonable that he would say he hated Star Wars and not popular culture for remembering him in that way.

It's the same with the prequels now. Some say that Liam Neeson hated being in TPM yet he visited set of ROTS and wanted to do a cameo for the movie and others say Ewan McGregor hated shooting all prequel movies.

I guess in the end, Star Wars is a mixed bag for those involved. I guess those that caught Sir Alec saying he hated SW did that on a bad day

Liam Neeson is an amazing actor, and he seems like a very very nice person, I don't think he hates star wars, star wars "refreshed his face" like, i mean, is now known by younger kids and years from now, he'll still be popular... i dont know, it's like 3:30 in the morning, my brain gets numb and right now my english sux... what im trying to say, is that through star wars, he earned a nu future audience, after starwars he did batman and other stuff that i doubt he'd have done if he hated star wars, comercial movies i mean. I've never heard that he said he hated star wars.

And Ewan McGregor, he's just one weird irish man. He's also a great actor, he just has an odd humor, it seems like if he'd be always making fun of u Oo... For what i've heard, he LOVED star wars when he was a kid, and was very excited to be part of the franchise in such an important role (btw: his uncle was a x-wing pilot in anh did u know?), one thing he said is that he can't stand star wars fans... he said they're (we're) too freaky.... like, he laughed his ass out when remembering a kid that said: "Ewan... may the force be with you" ... it was actually pretty funny the way he told it... he then went with: "hahaha... what the **** is wrong with those kids... may the force be with you?, what does that mean?!.... hahaha"

....enough said.

It won't happen, trust me. Plus, there's always this guy who can take his place:

That's a lot of hear-say really. I'm confident that if Neeson wanted to do a cameo in ROTS he would have done. His ghost appears in the comic book of ROTS at the end talking to Yoda (iirc), so clearly the concept was in Lucas's mind.

Lucas had already denounced the use of dead actors in new media. He'd be a hypocrite to use Alec Guinness.

Alec Guinness played the ghost of Jacob Marley in Scrooge(1970).

LOL, I'm watching that very version as I type this laugh In the bit where Marley and Scrooge go flying, I'm sitting there going "YOU WILL GO TO DAGOBAH... tongue

On a side-topic, I'm wondering if they ran the film backwards for Alec's movement, or if he somehow managed to move like that. Very effective anyhow. RIP Sir Alec.

I'm watching the Muppets version next, with equally oblique SW references.

On Ewan, from what i had read, he "hated" filming the PT, not because of the films or SW, but rather because of the nature of the filming -- the lack of substantial sets in favor of large amounts of green-screen in particular, as well as the scheduling and re-shoots GL is known for. It was also my understanding that when he said he "hated" it, he didn't mean that he literally hated the filming, but rather it wasn't his preferred way of making a movie (eg, he doesn't generally like making the "blockbuster" films -- he said similar things following the filming of that other "big" sci-fi movie he was in whose name escapes me at the moment...the one where he (and Scarlett Johansen, i think?) discover that they're actually clones of themselves or something).
