I saw Ewan in an interview where he said he was ecstatic to have been able to play Obi-Wan
and said he thought it was neat that he got to be in SW considering his uncle did as well.
His Uncle played Wedge.

Ewan is a far better obi wan for me. He actually likes star wars and has said he would probably appear if asked. Alec on the other hand despised star wars, and its fans, I dont want to see any more of him in star wars. Not to mention that he is already too linked to star wars when he gave far greater performances.

watching prison break the other night they said the elec chair makes you incontinent. So does that mean that mace windu pooped himself right before he went out the window? Or did Luke make a stain on
the death star? maybe DV died of embarasment?

Ewan knew what he was getting into when he signed up, whereas Alec has no idea of the impact SW was going to have. It's a significant difference if you ask me.

Hopefully Sir Alec knew that many people never heard of him until his role as Obi, like me. I was only 2 when ANH came out, but b/c of his role as Obi, he might have gained a bunch of new fans who went on to become fans of his other work. Whenever I'm flipping through the channels and come across an old movie of his, I usually leave it on. If it weren't for him being Obi, I would just keep on flipping the channels.

I think you've stepped on a very good point there. Unfortunately from what i understand, alec did not see things that way.

I don't understand why AG began to hate SW.
He must've known what he may possibly be getting into.
He did a lot of Shakespearean type roles before that and some big
name classics like Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia so SW was kind of
a departure from the norm for him. You don't entertain doing something
out of the ordinary (for you) and not think about consequences.
He became popular with a generation that would have most likely never
known who he was otherwise.
He shoulda been grateful for that IMO.

He had absolutely no idea what he was getting into, as prior to SW there simply wasn't a movie franchise like it. SW bred crazed fans, millions of toys, and spin off lunch boxes which had never been seen before.

He was in many movies and was involved in several Oscar winning movies, and my understand was that he saw SW as a potential space opera (which it is), and almost Shakespearian in it's delivery and subject matter. It was only really when on set that he questioned the believability of the lines he was delivering.

To suggest that he was only famous with our generation because of his involvement in the OT shows a little ignorance to be honest - he was an extremely sucessful actor with a wealth of respect, and an international star. The success of SW masked his better performances, and resulted in him being known as the guy from SW, rather than guy from all of those amazingly successful war-time movies.

He has nothing to be grateful for what-so-ever

A, I am far from ignorant (refraining from using profanity).
B, When I said generation I meant at the time I saw SW. No kid of my age at that time knew who in the hell
Alec Guiness was. The kind of movies he was in prior to SW were not the type of movies 10-12 yr olds went to see.

Really? The 1970 version of the family classic Scrooge is held by many as being the greatest adaption filmed to date.

Why don't you explain that further b/c it sounds very much like an attempt to
be personally demeaning or rude to me.
Not that it would matter what someone on a SW (or any other) msg board says to me in
an attempt to hurt my feelings lol.

One insignificant blip on the www radar is not going to make me feel bad, sorry to burst
your bubble dancing

Actually, Jedi Queen, I don't know what he was trying to do/say. It makes no sense. You said you were dying to see something, and he said that he's not surprised that you weren't. To which I say "huh"?

Perhaps English is not his first language?
(shrugs)
