I have to say we'll get something like the series Supernatural, self-contained stories at times, but a main plot for the season. Heroes is also a good example. Obviously there will have to be a draw to come back, a nice cliffhanger here and there, but I just don't see the series being something like Heroes where it runs in such a straight line and merit a cliffhanger at the end of EVERY episode.

IMO, the show will need to somewhat distance itself from the films in style in order to stand on its own.
No opening crawl.
No "iris out".
Entirely new score, with music played sparingly and any hints of John Williams themes played extremely sparingly (i.e., only at key plot points or emotional moments)

we will see, I have complete faith as to how things will be. Star Wars has a lot of resilency. 30 years and we have a lot of wealth between the movies, video games, comic books, novels, animation, rpg's, etc. Star Wars si so much more than just the movies, and the new tv series will be very good, and will allow authors to tell different type of stories that may have not been able to be told before.

Who knows what they'll do, but I'd like a comic book approach to the series. Have 3/4's of it be 3-6 episode story arcs punctuated with self contained episodes.

No opening crawl! That would get old fast. That's only cool in the movies... I never liked it in games, comics, books, etc.
Clone Wars Micro Series did it great. Showed the logo, but no opening crawl...
So hard to know how it will end, because it depends on how they structure the series. It will probably differ from Star Trek/Firefly, because it will center around more than just one crew on one ship.
I like the idea of having lots of different stories coming together. Heroes-esque, perhaps. But even single episodes solely devoted to certain plot points and/or characters. That way you get a nice mix of everything. Maybe one week it just focus on the rebellion, then the next 3 weeks is a story arc about bounty hunters, but it is all leading to something where they can come together.
I'd watch that... and then it will fade to black and say "Executive Producer George Lucas"
