Of course they won't. But that's like being afraid that a chocolate milkshake won't taste like pizza.

But...the original episodes were like three minutes long! How could that not have just been some sort of test from the beginning? It's pretty clear George isn't just saying that now to hype up this new show, the original 'toon was practically just a commercial break, and the second season, while episodes were longer, was only five episodes. It was never a 'real' show.

They were originally justs suppsoed to be a type of short commercial tie-in to hype up the lead into ROTS during the years between AOTC and ROTS. GT talked Lucas up to a couple minutes of runtime; they were a success, and so we got Volume 2 in longer stretches. They really weren't a test- just an ad campaign that got upgraded.

Is that exactly how The Simpsons (and to some extent Wayne's World) got started ?

Try and grab our attention for 180 seconds then see what sort of feedback you get. I've never heard a real complaint about the CW series - it tends to get across pretty well.

As DVD's go - they really work. I think they're excellent, and the format they took (3 min blurbs) was rather innovative - in a sly way.

I'm wondering this - the new CLone wars show is CG, right? So just how realistic are they going for?

Let's face it, so much of the prequels was CG - characters (droids, aliens humanoids), vehicles, environments, entire sequences... Will the CW show be as realistic as what we've seen in the films? How realistic will the human faces be? I'm sure many tech. boundaries have been shattered since the 'Final Fantasy' movie.

...and therefore...

The new live action show... well, how CG will that be??? Will 'real heads' on characters be the main difference between the two shows (technically speaking)?

These are thing that make me go "Hmmmm".

I'm under the impression the new Clone Wars cartoon is a 3D in the vein of Polar Express, blended with anime (can't really picture that in my head, but that's what Sansweet and others are saying)

As for the TV show, I doubt we'll see a lot of CG - at least not characters and places, I imagine the most we'll see would be space battles and exterior shots of cities/planets - a few creatures here and there.

Exactly.

Let's not forget that they released the cartoons on the web at the same time, and I'm sure people were more willing to watch a 3 minute Quicktime file than a 30 minute show. Being a Canadian, the net was the only place I could watch them until they came (later) to the Cartoon Network.

If this really does happen, I stronly suggest the GL employ the expertise of Joss Whedon who has experience in sci-fi tv without making the special effects look cheap and rushed cf. Firefly WHich he then translated to the big screen and did a g ood job cf. Serenity

Ugh, Joss Whedon would kill star wars like he did the Alien franchise with Alien Resurrection. Star Wars is much more than just no-brained sci-fi, it's full of epic mythology and touches a much deeper core than I think we should allow Whedon to even try to attempt.

Whedon isn't entirely responsible for AR not working completely- the director and various other creative choices contributed as well- not to mention that god-awful Newborn creature design that just ruined what was at least halfway enjoyable up until it's introduction.

but he didn't exactly help..........any true Alien fan wouldn't have put their name to the disaster that was AR.

oh, and Serenity was a complete miss-fire if you ask me

That's a great idea. LFL needs all the help they can get with developing visual effects.

Actually he can be mostly to blame - the director is fantastic, it was the story that sucked - not the cinematography. Granted, it all falls back on the director but Whedon is the #1 **** for AR

I don't know if anyone has had a chance to write since Nov, 06, but I'll give it a shot. Yesterday, I was looking up info on the Star Wars Tv Series and all I could find is it looks like it will air sometime in 2008. Unfortunatly, I don't know what station or what time of the year. So, I got to answer a part of your question, but maybe you already know that answer by now. If there is any other info you can add about the tv series, feel free to add it.

thinking
