Wouldn't it be cool if Lucas gave us an Anthology type series, in which each episode was self-contained, and could take place at any time chronologically from week to week?

One week, it could be about the growing Rebellion between III and IV, the next, could be about a young Maul pre-Phantom Menace, the next, could show Han rescuing Chewie from slavery and winning the Falcon, etc...

This way, they could answer all the questions and fill in all the blanks, plus, give us all the different characters throughout the series. Plus, each week would be totally unique.

Just an idea I'd like to see.

I like the idea but the stories shouldn't just be all over the place. That would get confusing. The episodes should be aired in chronological order.

In my old thread over in Lit about adapting the major EU stories into a Tv series, I felt that the best approach would be to have some degree of an anthology feel to things, in that to properly present the scope of the SW universe's history, you'd have to sometimes shift focus away from the movie characters or the same core cast of characters. Have an episode or two a season focusing on Kyle Katarn, another on Boba Fett, while another might focus on Toryn Farr, etc and these would be spread out amongst the episodes with Han, Luke, Leia, etc, but in a semi-recurring manner so as to not be completely disconnected in feel to the structure of the overall series (not to mention the added benefit of being able to more likely contract actors for longer periods of time when you have the benefit of a more flexible shooting schedule for them to perform in other projects, since they wouldn't have to be in every episode).

I feel a way this could work would be to use occasional episodes which focus on something from the past - perhaps a main character from the timeline focus of the show could recount something that they were involved in at a previous time, or recount a story from Jedi/Sith history. (Like Sidious tells Anakin about the past in ROTS, but expand that to actually show what happened.

I like that idea alot. At least that way we don't get wrapped up in some boring, drawn out storyline that's getting nowhere. A Darth Maul storyline would be most welcome. A storyline based around the time Qui-Gon and Mace Windu were at a young age would be great to see. Least this way we can see who trained Mace during his teenage years, and also get to see a younger Dooku. Maybe a distant past story arc with Yoda in mind would be cool to see, too. There are so many tales we would like to see, and these could be some of them. Focusing the t.v. series between Episodes III and IV isn't necessary, since we already know what happens during this time with most of the characters. Basing the series before episode I is new territory that needs to be explored, and would also make the prequels that much more important.

Kind of odd, but I don't remember hearing anything about The Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits failing because people couldn't follow an overall story or timeline from episode to episode.

For a long time I've like the idea of an Anthology Series. A Tales from the Star Wars Galaxy so to speak. After all the Tales from... (Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, Tales from the Empire/New Republic, Tales from Jabba's Palace) series of books was popular, wasn't it? I have long thought you need more books like that and such a TV show would add more depth to the Star Wars Galaxy then following the adventures of some narrow group of elitists. It would also showcase charactors that are unlikely to get a whole series to there own.

Supposedly the anthology books don't sell well enough to justify the multi-author costs and such, which is why we haven't gotten any anthology novels for the PT era, despite fans begging for them constantly. We'll break their will down, eventually, though, I think- you really need those background character stories to flesh out the film world properly.
