Hi, first-time poster here.
I think no way will it be JW.
In my experience down-under as a short film director, and producer of a show called Pop Collectables, I have found that we have to pay for each play of an artists music.
GL's new ethos is about trying to bring production costs down, so rather than paying a fantastically talented composer like JW a theatrical fee, I believe he will seek newer, or more affordable talent for the series. However, many of our familiar themes will obviously be used.
And BTW; we are bringing our Australian crew and show to Celebration IV, so please say hi for our SW Special.

I'm guessing they'll still have the original theme, I also have a feeling Imperial March will be used when theres a reference to the Empire. However, I'm thinking that they'll probably do some mods to the JW music used originally, mix a few together or something. I'm hoping John will be experimenting for the show, but like always, nothings ever confirmed.

I agree. Williams' music is inseparable from Star Wars. But he only works on film scores, so they'll more than likely bring in a new composer.
Besides, a lot of the themes Williams created were tied directly to specific characters in the leitmotif style -- specific recurring themes for specific characters. (i.e. Vader's theme, Luke's theme, Leia's Them, Luke and Leia's theme, Yoda's theme, the Emperor's theme, etc...)
It only makes sense to have new leitmotif themes for new characters. So it makes sense that if GL is going to start fresh with a new composer for Star Wars, now is the best time to do so.
However, I do think that we'll probably hear:
Star Wars Main Theme
Imperial March
The Rebels Theme
The Force Theme (assuming there are surviving Jedi)
But I think it would be cool to hear new themes for new characters (i.e. Tarkin, Boba Fett, etc...)

I'm thinking the music in the series may be done similarly to what they did with the Batman animated series that started up in the early 90s after the Tim Burton films. They used Danny Elfman's theme and elements of his compositions from the movies, but modified and conducted by different composers. I think SW TV will be Williams-heavy in terms of the trademark themes, but much of the music may be variations on them, not necessarily done by Williams.
That being said, i wouldn't be surprised if John Williams did the entire series, since he and GL apparently have had a very good working relationship over the years.

I think it'd be kinda fun to explore new themes and composers. I adore Williams work on the movies, but I'm don't think we should fear new composers coming into the series. It could be a wonderful opportunity to explore new musicical possibilities.

I agree. Williams has created music for the movies. Even in the animated Clone Wars micro-series, they used a new composer to create new music. And I don't think that turned out all that bad.

I'm fine with using a new composer, as long as they keep some reoccurring themes of William's SW soundtracks. Sort of like how some new tracks from the PT had OT cue's in them, we should get some movie sounds in the show. As long as they stick to things like the SW theme and the Imperial March, I don't think more personal/scene specific title's should be used (such as the Force Theme (Luke's), Leia's theme, or even the Ani/Padme love theme, Accross the Stars).

Just like G-Fett has said, time and again, the series will try and distance itself from the movies. Not fully, but you get the idea. I could see it being something KOTOR that had mostly new music for planets and themes for battle and stuff like that, but every now and then a JW theme would pop up.
The themes will probably be like cameos themselves, since so many of the themes are tied to a character. Imperial March, not gonna happen unless we see Vader. Emperor's theme, only happen if we see the emporer... etc.

I think there would have to have to be some new music (IE new main character themes & Battle Themes) I think it would be New Music mixed with the old from the Movies (IE Movie theme & force theme)

That's how it was with Young Indy. The Raiders march was only heard once: when Harrison Ford appeared in a cameo as 50-year-old Indy.
