Seems as though there has to be a narrative arc over many episodes rather than single, short plot lines.

From the tid-bits we've heard, that definatly seems to be the way they're going.

Yes, I would expect that they have an overall story arc, and will have a bunch of one-off episodes, like X-Files and the conspiracy story.

I've got to say, I'm really starting to get excited about this show now. We've all had a nice break from Star Wars, after ROTS, but now I'm ready to begin a new adventure. dancing

I just wish they would get on with it. laugh

I think we'll hear a few tid-bits at CIV, then probably nothing much over the summer, when all the attention will be on Indy IV, but come autumn and winter, I would think it'll be all systems go - With filming taking place next summer and a release sometime in 2009.

That's exactly how i was thinking, similar to the presentation of the overall X-Files/Conspiracy arc. peace

Only thing left to do is make Jar Jar the main character.

I'm surprised he's never had his own "spin-off" cartoon, actually. It would surely be a fantastic marketing possibility in the 2-5yr age range. I'm quite surprised nobody at LFL has done it.

Wait, do they even have a cast yet? How on Earth can this show suddenly get ready by 2009? That just sounds iffy.

It's a pretty plausible timeframe, actually. As an example, take a look at the recently annoucned third Stargate series- as of March it only existed as a one-page treatment, which will hit active development in June, with the goal of having the show ready to air in early/mid 2008.

Now stretch that timeframe out if Lucas is going to film more episodes at once, but generally most shows are produced on some level on the fly a couple months before they finally air.

Well, Rick has said in the interview I just posted that they expect to have the first episode ready by the end of 2008, and then the show should be released in 2009. So, things should really start to move with this, later this year, I would have thought.

To be truthful, I'm more anticipating the clone wars at the moment as it'll have famous characters. But in the tv show, there's a possibility we'll end up with more Jar Jar type characters or some b-rate character that you'd find on the sci-fi channel.

Well, if you believe what we're hearing from LFL, the series should be much darker and more character driven than the PT movies, so I would think characters like Jar Jar are very unlikely.
