Anyone notice this cool nod to ANH?
The shot after Grievous says, "Fire!" looks exactly like the shot in ANH when the Death Star superlaser is first used. The droids even shield their eyes in the same way.

You bet. It looks like a precursor of the death star lazer, which could be an interesting subplot.

Am I the only one to be dissapointed? First of all the backgrounds don't look 3D, they look very flat and washed out. The cloudy skies look like standard 2D animation. Over all everthing seems flat and dull like a painting; C-3po doesn't even look very metalic and shiny. Other Shots, like Dooku standing by his speeder, and some of the sky/space battles, don't even look finished.
I hope that this Trailer is just an early rendering, and not the finished product.

Does anyone feel that the Clone Wars were
pretty much.....covered already?
Its fine to show them and everything, but is
the story of the Clone Wars really that interesting to visit again and again?

With the exception of the cartoon and the comics, the coverage of the clone wars between 2 and 3... was lacking. Shatterpoint was nice but it really wasn't a huge epic battle. It was a small mission the same as Hard Contact. I was very upset with Cestus Deception and Jedi Trial. Dark Rendevous was a pleasant surprise but by that time many already new Dooku's fate in ROTS. Because there were hundreds of Jedi fighting and the books focused on the main characters, there is still plenty of story opportunity. Plo Koon in the trailer really has me excited IF they USE him. The 5 minutes of Tiin in Chapter 23 of Clone Wars was great. Shaak Ti's battle with the droids was fun to watch. Here is a time filled with a bunch of jedi that demonstrate why they are considered warriors. And we saw only a fraction of it in the previous cartoon. If they do what I hope they do and slowly push Anakin and Obi-Wan to the side and allow the cartoon to follow other jedi and USE pre-established storylines in Republic (Vos as a spy, bounties on Jedi etc.) this could be a very good series. I really hope we move away from Anakin and Obi-Wan. I'd love to see jedi councilors that were underused in the cartoon and the comics start taking a bigger role and have their own episode like Kit Fisto did. Clone Wars proved that such episodes are entertaining to the audience. The cartoon seemed like a test to see if a show like this would work.
And let's hope we get more Bail Organa serving in the Clone Wars.

I am pretty sure the shots shown in the trailer are the finished shots. Lucas (or another official source I can't remember now) said the first two episodes were completely finished a while ago.
I personally like the backgrounds. Even in many big productions 3d animation is done this way (in 2d).
One point you make that I kinda agree with is the look of threepio. He didn't look right to me. And the single line he got could have been taken from ANH or ESB so there's no guarantee Daniels is involved. Hopefully the voice will at least sound authentic, even if it isn't Daniels doing it. Many people could do a good enough Yoda impersonation so I don't mind if Oz isn't involved. He sounded a bit too old imo in ROTS so getting a younger version of Yoda's voice might work better anyway.

It has a lot more potential than the live action series IMO.

Unless i'm grossly mistaken, both Anthony Daniels and Frank Oz have been officially confirmed as being involved with the series.

GARTH_MAUL posted: One thing I really liked about Dark Horse's Clone Wars/Republic campaign is that they definitely involved Anakin and Obi-Wan, but had a tonne of other plot threads running at the same time. Plus they did the Jedi miniseries, with double-size issues focused on a single Jedi: Mace, Yoda, Dooku, Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura.
I'm hoping we'll get something similar with SW: TCW.
They said that's what we'll be seeing- a lot of stories focusing on the side characters, in addition to the main characters.

I agree. I'm sure the graphics are going to be fantastic and there will be amazing action sequences. That said, there's no mystery left in this story because we already know everything that's going to happen in ROTS.
Not only do we know Anakin's fate and how it ties into ROTS and ANH, but we know what happens to him by the end of the Clone Wars.
We also know Dooku's fate, Ventress's fate, Dhurge's fate and the fate of the entire Jedi order (i.e. Mace, Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, Ki-Adi Mundi, Aayala Secura, Plo Koon, Stass Allie, et al.)
We also know how the Clone Wars series ties directly into ROTS with Grievous capturing Palpatine in order to trick Anakin and Obi-Wan into Sidious's trap which will push Anakin that much closer to the Dark Side.
We know who Sidious is and we know his grand scheme.
So the question remains: What story is there left to tell?

I mentioned this in the community thread, but I found the animation just flat... I would have much preferred them sticking with traditional animation.

I was second in line, got interviewed for TV numerous times, experienced the entire saga in theatres, saw Rick, Hayden, Ian and Lucas, Saw ROTS 3 days before most with a great crowd, got close to Lucas and made Rick smile. May 16th 2005. Best day ever

G-FETT posted: I've been discussing this fellow mods and admins and its been decided its cool to post non OS links for this trailer, as its 100% free to view, advertising material. So, if anybody needs a link and someone wants to post one, go ahead.
Sorry for the confusion, guys.

LucasFilm is removing the Clone Wars 2008 trailer from youtube probably because it is taking traffic away from the newly redesigned starwars.com
Speaking of which...

Ah, this is what I've been waiting for. Awesome stuff. Thanks very much.
I sense several new icons and banners in the works.
Those caps were the work of german board called projekt-starwars.de I believe. AnakinBrego is just reposting the link.
