Watched the trailer again and damn. After the relief ROTS bought after the first two sub-par prequel movies this looks to be the final swig of the whiskey.

I was second in line, got interviewed for TV numerous times, experienced the entire saga in theatres, saw Rick, Hayden, Ian and Lucas, Saw ROTS 3 days before most with a great crowd, got close to Lucas and made Rick smile. May 16th 2005. Best day ever

Lavaman posted: Am I the only one to be dissapointed? First of all the backgrounds don't look 3D, they look very flat and washed out. The cloudy skies look like standard 2D animation. Over all everthing seems flat and dull like a painting; C-3po doesn't even look very metalic and shiny. Other Shots, like Dooku standing by his speeder, and some of the sky/space battles, don't even look finished.
I hope that this Trailer is just an early rendering, and not the finished product.
I am pretty sure the shots shown in the trailer are the finished shots. Lucas (or another official source I can't remember now) said the first two episodes were completely finished a while ago.
I personally like the backgrounds. Even in many big productions 3d animation is done this way (in 2d).
One point you make that I kinda agree with is the look of threepio. He didn't look right to me. And the single line he got could have been taken from ANH or ESB so there's no guarantee Daniels is involved. Hopefully the voice will at least sound authentic, even if it isn't Daniels doing it. Many people could do a good enough Yoda impersonation so I don't mind if Oz isn't involved. He sounded a bit too old imo in ROTS so getting a younger version of Yoda's voice might work better anyway.
Sorry, I don't mean to suck all the fun out of this event.
I am glad that everybody seems to like this Animation style, but I personally am not happy with it. I was thinking that this new Clone Wars Series would be animated like Pixar's stuff. I love 2D animation, like Tartakovsky's original Clone Wars Series, but if a series is animated with CGI, I feel it should have a complete 3D look. Personally I like Tartakovsky's Clone Wars style better than this Series so far. Oh well, just my humble opinion.

Somewhere in there, yeah. Volume 1 msotly took place around 4 months after the Battle of Geonosis, IIRC, and Volume 2 was set between 31-36 months ABG. This series seems to be set more mid-war.

I'm ready for it even if it is expanding a portion of the SW universe that is not nearly as interesting as say... the ORIGINAL TRILOGY!
This whole "Anakin falls" shtick is done as far as I'm concerned. Star Wars needs more Cowbell (Vader)!

I was just looking for some wallpaper for the old desktop when I kind of happened upon this trailer. I'm a big fan of the clone wars cartoons (have both volume's on DVD, and watch them quite a bit still). I heard this was coming out, but haven't paid a lot of attention to it because I figured it would be awhile before I seen anything about it.
It looks quite impressive! The graphics are a lot better then the other clone wars. The two things that interested me the most was that "super gun" that Grievous fires from a ship. Like posted above, it is indeed very similar to the Death Star superlaser. Very intriguing.
Then of course.....I'm a big starship fan. All of a sudden now Anakin has this new wierd fighter! It is cool to see other's have noticed it as well. It is similar to the B-Wing, but of course it's not actually a B-Wing. So now I'm going crazy wondering what in the heck it is. I've analyized it a few times now, tried to dig up information on it (including checking the databank) but it's a no go. I'm just going to have to be patient on any information about it. It looks like it has a three wing design, and is highly manuverable and fast. Very interesting indeed...

Did somebody say MORE Vader? Can I get an AMEN for that my Star Wars brothers and sisters!?!? It would be great to see what effect the death of Padme, his new physical being and his new position in life (as the Emperor's right-hand man) have on Vader and how he deals with such huge life-altering, life-shattering events.

That's no reason not to like this series. It just means you should keep an eye out for another series on that topic.
Asajj Force choking that dude cracked me up. Pretty much all of Vader's schticks have been completely deconstructed and put in the hands of other characters now.
I'm still having trouble getting used to the style of the animation, and the faces in particular are weird. I think it looks good other than that, though.

I'm not sure who this comment is directed at, but I can assure you I am geeked up for this series. It looks fantastic. I just think there are so many more stories that have yet to be explored. Why limit yourself to a virtual repeat of a story that's already been resolved? (Just for the graphics? Just to show off how good your animation can be?) Like I said, we already know how it's going to end up. We know who survives the Clone Wars and who gets killed by whom in ROTS, so that takes away from A LOT of the suspense, mystery and drama of the story.
That's why I'm really looking forward to something new, with a fresh story like the live action series.

Those caps were the work of german board called projekt-starwars.de I believe. AnakinBrego is just reposting the link.
Thanks for the information.

Hey Mara.
I got over the deconstruction of Darth Vader a long time ago. Lucas and co camp up with an undeniable work of genius in Darth Vader that he or anyone else involved in SW will never surpass. Every single Sith, including your friend Darth Sidious, is derivative.
I think the space/air battles are going to be amazing.
I must be the only one not appreciating the duplication of the Death Star laser blast. It's not an homage, it's a photocopy. What's the point?

Lucasfilm is also taking down TalesOfTheNewRepublic from youtube

A few selected quotes:
LeeS posted: Hey Everyone,
WHAT A WEEK!!! I've just returned from C4 (arrived this morning but I'm only now functional)
Now that I have easy access to the net I'd like to clear the air and the rumors about Tales of the New Republic.
Firstly and you know this one, it's nothing to do with Lucasfilm, it's not official, it's 100% a fan project. I can't call it a fan film because there is no film, or series, or whatever. It was purely meant to be a 'what if' and in no way meant to confuse people regarding the new Clone Wars series. I was very surprised at that part of the confusion as I thought it was very clear and very well promoted by Lucasfilm that they were doing a CGI Clone Wars series and a Live action show set between Ep3-4. For that very reason we stayed away from that era.
*clip*
Fast forward to this year, the 30th anniversary fast approaching and Gentle Giants Animated statues. When I saw these and especially the Leia and R2, I decided that something HAD to be done with them. The design and look took all the great ideas from Genndy's 2D series, made them 3D and then applied that to the original trilogy characters. The problem was that time was short. So instead I thought, lets make a short teaser trailer and see if people like this idea.
*clip*
My goal was always to have it done for the 30th anniversary on May 25th. At 11:59 EST the video was uploaded, a short time later a smaller version for YouTube was uploaded and then it was off. The next morning I headed to C4 with some DVD's to hand out in the hope of getting some fans to watch. By the time I landed in LA things had gone mad! Sites like www.Aintitcoolnews.com had picked it up and the website, along with the YouTube video we're being downloaded by the truckload. The problem was a lot of people thought it was a real production, unfortunately it's not. I emailed Harry at AintItCool, even put a disclaimer on the website, but that didn't slow the downloads and the rumors. We were the #1 Animation video on YouTube last weekend and the website had now way passed 100,000 visitors, with over 2 Million hits.
It's a real shame Lucasfilm had it removed from YouTube, we had over 170,000 views in 3 days and was going well. I've no idea what the problem was as they didn't say, never emailed, never contacted. I was under the impression that LF supported Fan projects, allowing use of Logos, music etc. I see them all over YouTube, Atom, TheForce.Net etc.. Of course no profit was ever intended or expected. It's also odd as there are currently no less than 10 clones of the original video still on you tube, so this seems like a targeted response, again no idea why. Maybe someone will enlighten me. I did state clearly on the video text that this was a "'what if' teaser in the style of a cartoony animated Star Wars show"
*clip*
All the best,

I agree; the Death Star laser blast is a total "photocopy" However, it'll be interesting to see where the origins of that weapon came from.

they probably took down the "tales" vid because it detracted form the clone wars trailer. I think it showed a lot more generic interest than clone wars to the average passer by star wars fan though.
by the way Dooku loks like a big oak tree.

It feels good to have something relatively close to look forward to again. Think in terms of ROTS...Remember Winter 2003? Fall 2008 will be here before you know it.
