Rather have New Republic toon?

9+ novels. Many dozens of comic books. 25 animated shorts. Several short stories. A few video games.
This describes the Clone Wars; in my opinion, the most over-crowded section of the entire Star Wars saga. How many contradictions are there already? (The invasion of Coruscant confusion still leaves me baffled.) And now, we get a whole cartoon series. Don't get me wrong, it's better that Star Wars slow dying, fading away.... but enough clones
already!
I for one was hopeful of the "Tales of the New Republic" thing. Now, the New Republic is the second most crowded timeline... but still, I for one would much rather see this time frame added to than Clone Wars, I'd even love to see some of the novels put to the screen. I'm a bit tired of Anakin and Padme.
Anyone else? Thoughts?

Tales of the New Republic always was going to be a fan project, I', afraid, so you shouldn't have got your hopes up about that.
Otherwise, well, if you don't fancy the Clone Wars cartoon, theres still the live action series to enjoy and that really will be completely unique.

The Post-ROTJ era is already being dragged through the mud with LOTF, and the DNT before that, and don't even get me started on the NJO. With all the crap placed in that era, it's difficult to find any suitable period to set a Star Wars series. The NJO pretty much ruined chances of that, because of its setup and basis of the Vong War, LOTF is making things worse.
If we get anything Post-ROTJ, I hope it ignores NJO and its followers, and just tries to tell a good story that would respect the STAR WARS name and the films itself, not the books.

Clone Wars era material will have more of an impact with the casual fan than post-RotJ stuff. People are all ready a little familiar and curious with what happened between AotC and RotS. Not everyone reads all those comics and books  .

Any star wars is good. Having said that i do like the new republic era and would like to see more done with it.

It's kind of funny that anyone would say the Clone Wars are over crowded. I rememeber while waiting for Epi.III when the first 2-3 minute CW cartoons were on people said if that was it they we're very dissapointed.

I also think that there is no need for more Clone Wars in any kind of media (I still have to read some of the CW-Books) and I´m rather sad that Tales of the New Rep are only a very good looking fan project.
I cannot understand why Lucas didn´t show the Clone Wars in the PT the way he wanted it. Before the PT was released, no SW fan would have thought that the Clone Wars would not be shown on the big screen, but in a cartoon series...
GL could have made a better choice by splitting the PT up in 6 Episodes with more focus on the CW, character developement etc. (but thats another topic altogether) and perhaps more Vader hunting Jedi.
Most SW Fans are eager to see whats happening after EP VI.
Sadly Lucas doesnt give a damn about the EU...

I personally would much rather see something post ROTJ. i like the eu novels etc but i want visual stuff, something that makes it solid canon pure and impossible to dispute.
I like the prequels and their characters, but i relate much more to the characters of the original trilogy.

Myself, I can't stand the EU stuff. If it doesn't come from Lucas himself then I don't buy it or buy into it.

Personally I thought the New Republic toon looked better than this Clone Wars one. I understand its not necessarily a finished product yet but still. And I would have sacrificed every last bit of continuity for an awesome looking post ROTJ animated show like that.

The clone wars series is gonna rock..... plain and simple, and as someone else said, its a great period to set an action series.
I have never read any of the post ROTJ stuff as it never interested me and some of the storylines I'd heard sounded awful. However, seeing Leia with a lightsaber and Dark Luke actually made me want a post ROTJ series. Ideally I'd like someone to go through all of the post ROTJ stuff, sift out the crap, and put it into an animated series. Who knows, after the clone wars series and the live action series, Lucas may want to milk some money out of the New Republic era.
